ATI Home 2010 Nonstop Backup BSoD

Like many users, I have had numerous BSoDs with the 2010 Nonstop backup feature. I have tried to do some troubleshooting of the problem, and have narrowed it down to something that you should be able to test:
After Nonstop backup shuts itself off, go into the Vista/Windows 7 Services panel, and issue a STOP (or RESTART) command to the "Acronis Nonstop Backup service." This will cause a BSoD for Vista.
Simply stopping a service should not, IMHO, cause the OS to crash.
