I am working/testing a DISK RESTORE from the latest release of ATI2011...ver .05

DID I MISS IT... How do I restore a Disk Backup of "C" drive to a different location ??
I want to test the restore to an external SATA or USB drive...
I cannot find the place ot restore to a different location...

All I see is "Are you sure you want to restore the C Partition... All data will be lost...
Holy Cow.... I want to test ... Not overwrite a functional boot drive...

In 2011, when selecting the destination, you have to look carefully and maybe even maximize your screen size. Anyway, when you looking for the destination, the last entry inside the Destination option will be a browse option which allows you to choose a different drive and different folders.

Grover,

Thank you for your reply....
My question was for a Disk Restore, not the Backup Location...
I may have still overlooked it but I cannot find anywhere that one can start a "Disk Restore" with TIH 2011 v0.5 and select the restore location.
All I have seen so far is the warning "Do you really want to restore this disk, all data will be destoryed..." Apparently, the target disk is the one from which the backup was made.

Have I overlooked it for real?

To recover a disk backup to an old or new drive.

1. Under the "My Backups" folder, chose the backup file to recover and click RECOVER.

2. The new screen should show the partition diagram of your disk at backup time.
Checkmark this as the backup to be restored. Take note in upper right corner, you have a toggele choice of two views. If you are in disk view, the screen should say "switch to Partition view". If you are in partition view, the screen will say "switch to disk view". Once you initiate the chekmark, that should cause a new window to open and you can click on the small arrowhead located to the right of the target listed.

3. From there you should be able to select the target disk which where you want the backup to be applied. YOu can select a new larger disk as the target; or your old disk and have the backup be reapplied to your old disk.

4. I do not currently have 2011 available at this particular time so cannot be more specific at this time. I am currently working on a pdf which involves 2010 and I have temporarily removed the 2011 boot disk.

Grover,

Thanks again for your reply....
I cannot believe that I missed that little ticker up in the right corner....
I got to the place to change the destination drive and the restore went without a hitch....
ALthough, the first time trying to find the little menu... something locked up and TIH2011 stopped responding...
The computer running XP/Pro/SP3 was not totally locked up but very close... I had to do a reset boot in order to regain control....
After the reboot, the restore went fine.... Seems like it was flipping back and forth in that destination view that blew it up....
Acronis should probably know about that already....

Thanks again for your help...now on to more testing... I need this thing to work when I am desperate....

I am also using xp pro, sp3 and have made several backups and several restores all without issues.

But this new GUI does take some getting use too.
