ATI2014 mount issue Windows 8.1
I am having trouble mounting an archive with True image 2014 running on Windows 8.1. The archive was produced with Acronis True image 2011 in June 2011.
When I select the archive in the mount wizard it shows me that there are 3 partitions in the archive which is correct but it then flashes up a warning saying it cannot find version 15.
" You may have moved or deleted it. please Browse and specify its location, or ignore the message."
It provides 3 buttons Browse or Retry or Cancel. The first 2 are meaningless as the archive is a full backup and all 40 files are present. So I hit cancel. Have to do this 3 times; I presume once for each partition as it tells me that it cannot mount each partition.
If I then try [options] to tell it that I only want to mount one of the partitions it repeats the sequence for the first 2 partitions then I get a message saying it has stopped working.
In my book this is a Bug but I will ask in case anyone has seen this before and can point me in the right direction.
To investigate this I have done the following today:-
1) Installed ATI2011 on a Windows XP (32Bit) machine and successfully mounted the archive (Its on an external HD via USB)
2) installed ATI2013 on a Windows 7 (64 Bit) machine and successfully mounted the archive.
3) Upgraded the ATI2013 machine to ATI2014 and mounted the archive and browsed the directories
Having brought the USB external HD back to my workstation I now find that there is an extra file in the archive; perhaps added by ATI2013 as it is timestamped 45 minutes before I upgraded ATI2013 to ATI2014. I do not believe this is significant to the issue as the error messages are the some ones I was getting last week and the sumcheck value I hold for each of the 40 files is unchanged.
ATI2014 on the machine I am having the problem is the latest version and is registered (validated).
If anyone can shed light on this issue I would appreciate your help otherwise it will become an issue for the Acronis support team.
TIA
Andy

That is not very encouraging as I have 8.5TB of .tib files going back as far as March 2007 :( Many are held in triplicate as they form part of a 25TB test data set that I use to verify that my next generation workstation is working reliably with all its raid packs. I have been known to restore a disc to its state 5 years ago when I am investigating issues.
I suspect the issue is probably compatibility with windows 8.1 since ATI2014 running on windows 7 can mount the backup successfully.
Does Acronis support have a presence in this forum?

You may well be correct, Win 8.1 compatibility is certainly possible! The pages of this forum are filled with issues of users running Win 8 8.1 are having. Yes, Acronis support does have a presence here, they might help you sort yhe issue out.
Sorry your having issues.

Well I believe the problem is resolved.
After a bit more investigation on a cloned system drive I have now updated my main drive:-
1) I removed the installation of ATI2014
2) I removed the drive letter from all my raid volumes. ( In effect I hid most of my previous backups)
3) Removed all external drives connected via USB as they also contained backups.
4) Removed 2 of my SSD's
I then reinstalled ATI2014 and deselected the option to auto search at startup.
I then introduced one external drive which had the backup from June 2011 and told it to add a backup via search now and it found it.
I then went through the mount procedure and it was successful.
So I have now downloaded the manual :) and will have a read over the coming weeks to see if it sheds any light on the issue.
I suspect that ATI2014 is trying to be a bit to clever with its auto searching and must have come across some directories which contain parts of a backup which are failing my CRC checks and became confused.

Please, can you give me a step-to-step guide on how to deselect the option to auto search at startup?

I will post details in the morning as I am out of my office with no access to ATI2014 tonight.

Thank you, I have an issue different from yours (see my post if you are interested) but maybe the cause is the same.

In the backup and recovery tab - select the add backup icon.
You will then see a drop down menu with 3 options
- Browse
- auto-search at startup
- Search now
The auto search is a toggle; click it until the tick to its left is grey and not highlighted.
Each time you click it the menu will close so you will have to reselect it.
Hope that helps

Same here and I'm having clone issues with Win 8.1 but I also have a new system using a Seagate ST1000DM003-1CH162 HHD, using an ATA buss with a passport 1 TB USB HD. (same size)
Of course I cloned early but when I went to clone back to the internal HHD it crashed. At this point I don't know if it's the new embedded HD or if it's Win 8.1. Dang, this use to work and was a life saver when I was using Vista, a FATT HHD of the same size and this WD USB HD.
ANY HELP OUT THERE?
