ATIH 15.0.6154 & 15.0.7119

Thread needs solution

I updated ATIH to build 7119 5/10/2012 and just yesterday I discovered that ATIH 15 will not allow me to recover my MS Office 2007 Application Settings. ATIH 14 has no problem with this. I would like to continue using ATIH 15. I thought maybe this was an oversight or some kind of glitch. I understand I can no longer CREATE new MS Office 2007 Application Settings, but Acronis told us we could still RECOVER older backups of those Application Settings.
When I attempt to recover those Application Settings, I am getting the following message:

Failed to recover file or folder
!http://www.tcha.mus.in.us/docs/

Does anyone know what that message means?

My PC is ASUS
Windows 7 x64
i7 2600
8 GB RAM

It could be I am the only one in the world who cares about being able to recover my MS Office Application Settings to MS Office after a reinstall of Windows, etc. Does anyone ever do that? Or, have you not been able to get that far? Whew! This forum is the most depressing Support Forum I have ever read!!?? All kinds of questions -- both from end users and tech support, but no answers of any use from tech support. Guys: Don't you get it, yet? Tech support doesn't have a clue... For that matter, I don't think Microsoft does either... Microsoft doesn't recommend using Windows 7 to backup your hard drive; they recommend a program like Acronis or Ghost. What does that tell you? Microsoft can't do it, either. I have a real sinking feeling that the problem, here, with all of these support questions is M-I-C-R-O-S-O-F-T. Acronis is writing software for a seriously flawed Microsoft Operating System.
I never had a problem with Acronis of any kind and I used to wonder what in the world you guys and gals were doing to cause all those problems. Now I think I know: You bought a new PC that came loaded with Windows 7. I never had any problems with Acronis until I got this ASUS PC with Windows 7 x64 preloaded. Microsoft isn't doing anything about the problems with Win7 because they are busy working on Windows 8 which will have all kinds of problems of its own. Remember the good old days of DOS and Windows 3?

==>If you have just started with THI at 2012, your observation of MS could be spot-on....
Actually, I have been using Acronis since version 10. I have 6 registered versions of Acronis. I began with TIH v. 10 and Windows XP. Perfect match, never a problem. Then I got a new computer with Vista x86, no problems. Then came the new PC with Win7 x64 and the problems started. Acronis could not keep up with Microsoft. The new Win7 x64 (at least) is S-T-R-A-N-G-E. It does weird things. I thought, at first, it might be the i7 2600 processor. Then I thought maybe ASUS had done something weird with their hiddem partition for the factory recovery. But I don't think so, any more. It is MS. True Acronis is having problems with ther drivers but if they can't figure out what in hades MS is doing with Win 7, then that is understandable. MS should have quit with DOS 6.2 and gone out and gotten a paper route. You know, something they could handle. ;-)

Hello Tim767,

Thank you for your post.

I apologize for the issue that you experienced and we are sorry for not replying sooner. Our Forum is a community and not an official support channel.

I would recommend the following course of action to get this issue resolved:

1. Collect Acronis System Report from your machine using Acronis True Image 2012 Home.

2. Contact our Support team with the report attached. As it is a recovery issue we will not charge for support.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

Thank you.

Thank you, Anton, for you quick response. I have created the System Report and am attaching it as you requested.

Hi Tim,
I would like to understand the problem you are experiencing better. The message you are referencing above is pointing to an online document repository for the tippacanoe county historic society. Is this setting being referenced or saved in Outlook? Or in an Applications Trust Center... If no, then where? I'm sure I am missing something, so could you please elaborate more about this.

Thanks

==>>could you please elaborate more about this.

I don't understand the message either. I have a backup of the MS Office 2007 Word and Excel settings that I have been restoring to Office whenever I reinstall the program so I don't have to recreate the quick access toolbar and set my preferences in the Word and Excel programs. This has always worked perfectly until Acronis TIH version 15. Now, whenever I reinstall Office, and attempt to recover the Word and Excel 2007 application settings file, it fails and gives me the error message to which you referred. I don't have Outlook installed because I am using the Home and Student edition of Office 2007. I tried to follow the link as you did and couldn't understand why it is even in there. I think it is some kind of glitch with version 15 of TIH since I can roll back to TIH 14.0.6942 and restore thos app settings just fine.
I realize the Quick Access Toolbar can be easily restored by making sure I back up the Excel.qat and word.qat files located in "C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\". I do that but there are other preferences I set that are not included in those two files. I am just glad I don't have to recreate the Quick Access Toolbar each time I reinstall Office.

It is an annoyance that should not be there, but not a crisis. It is just so much easier after reinstalling Office to recover that little backup of the application settings and be done with it. I have sent the problem directly to Acronis Support to see if they can suggest anything.

Thanks,

Tim

Hi Tim,
I'm sure you are aware that the error above has nothing to do wih Acronis as far as a defect in the product goes. Granted this message is an annoyance, but I am confident you can get it resolved. Somewhere in your configuration there is a reference to this website. I suspect a document shortcut or entry as a trusted site. You would probably have a better idea about this as I assume this site is meaninful to you. The message will resolve once reference to this site is removed.

Hi, ShadowSports,
Actually, it is an issue with Acronis version 15.
I can repeatedly roll back to Acronis version 14 and everything works fine. Acronis Tech Support has had the case since 5-16.
And, no, I don't have a clue what in the world that web site is all about. I, too, followed the link and I have never heard of the web site. The Application Settings backup file I am trying to restore to Office with Acronis 15 is an old one and has worked perfectly through several versions of Acronis.
Also, getting rid of the error message is not my goal. I am hoping Acronis Tech Support can discover why TIH 15 will not restore this file to Office like previous versions of TIH and be able to fix the issue.
Thanks, though, I really appreciate your input and for taking the time to reply.

Tim,
If you have recovery capability, then try doing another restore of drive C and this time, include the "Recover disk signature" option which is located on the same screen where you choose the target disk. Use the TI Boot CD for the recovery.
