ATIH 2011 - Cloned drive doesn't get past Windows' loading screen
I cloned a bootable 250 GB drive with Windows XP SP3 to an USB external 1 TB drive (a normal HD in a case) using the CD. The operation was OK, but, every time I boot from the clone, a BSOD appears very quickly during the Windows' loading screen - not even allowing me to read what it informed - and then the PC is restarted.
I checked Windows' Disk Management utility and the clone's partition is shown as active rather than a system partition, which is what it should be, since the cloned partition was a system one. To make matters worse, the Disk Director 11 Home in the CD shows the partition as "Active, System, Bootable".
Is this happening because the HD is externally plugged? When I cloned an internal drive (also with XP) to another internal drive, the clone booted normally, without any errors.

Yes you are correct, Windows will not boot from an external Drive

Calil BFR,
If all disks are connected, then remove the 250 and place the new disk on the same connector.
If you boot successfully, you can re-attach the 250 later as a data disk.
Windows has trouble when two identical disks are attached so remove the original.
