Backing up FROM a NAS device

Thread needs solution

I probably posted this in the wrong forum so I'll try again here:

I'm probably missing something obvious but I'm happy to make myself look silly if someone can supply an answer. A friend was using Acronis 2009(?) as his backup software which worked well until I set him up with a needed NAS service using Freenas. What I then needed to do was set up his backup routine to now backup the data on the NAS device to an external HD attached to his PC. His then version of Acronis failed to find the device and so I've been testing using the current trial version of Acronis 2011 which does see both device and data and a full backup is comfortably created. However, try as I might, I can see no way to set up an incremental backup as all I can see when I try are his local PC drives. If someone can point out where I'm being dense and how to do this I'll be very grateful (and Acronis will then get a sale).

TIA

This might be related and helpful (from the FAQ http://forum.acronis.com/forum/13234):

"15. After upgrading from Acronis True Image 2009/2010 Home incremental backups disappear from the program (ATIH 2011) GUI.
This is a known issue with the latest build of Acronis True Image Home 2011 (Build 6574). Please use the following workaround."

Henrik - thanks for your response but that was not what I was asking. I don't have any incremental bakups, I want to be able to create them. I have, however, now succeeded in this. Trouble is, I don't know which supplied the answer out of 2 possiibilities. What I decided to do was to map the networked NAS device on the PC that had the external HD attached. However, before I could do that I was prompted if I wanted to download the latest version ATIH which I did. It could be that the new version did the job or it was the mapping of the NAS. Since it works I can't be bothered to unmap the NAS to se if it can still be seen for incremental update purposes.

Aplolgies for the slow response: for a couple of days I haven't been able to log in with the site being shown as unavailable when I tried.

Jahod,
