Backing up a non-stop backup

Thread needs solution

I am using ATIH non-stop backup to backup a strictly data drive to a dedicated hard drive. The non-stop backup write to a directory called "Time Explorer Storage"

I wish to periodically back up this directory and store the information off-site. I wish to be able to recover the data in case of a catastrophic event.

Can I back up this directory in this manner and then restore the data?

Let's say for example that my PC system drive crashes, or I upgrade the PC. After recovering or reinstalling the system and installing ATIH on the new system, can I direct ATIH to recover the backup data from a snapshot of the non-stop storage directory stored on a portable hard drive?

I foresee one problem with your requirement which is whether or not you can manually restore the actual TimeLine folder and TI be able to find it again.

What I would do is make a TI task to take the TimeLine folder and make it into a tib image, this image can then be stored offsite. No compression required as the TL files are already compressed so not much is to be gained from compressing them again.

If you are using 2011 I would also export all the tasks, I haven't checked to see if TL and OLB are included in the imaging database, but it'd still be a good idea if you have other tasks as well.

The manifest folder is the one that contains the index to TimeLine sessions, so it might be that you can re-install TI and just point to the recoverd TL folder and all is OK.

I think the way I'd actually do it might be to once a month make a complete disk image that includes the NSB folder, this way you have some redundancy and don't have to re-install TI.

Hi, new entry and a question

I am using acronis True Image Home 2011 with non-stop backup enabled
I would like to take one entry from the back-up , lets say Monday 11:05 and extract it as a .tib image in the hard drive like colin says

i have searched really thorough in the program for an option that will let me do exactly that but i cant seem to find it

any help will be greatly appreciated

Alekos,

You would use the files and folders backup option.

Colin i think you are referring to this option

but with this you can extract files and folders uncompressed

what i would like to do is extract them as a .tib image, probably not possible but hey it was worth a try

cheers m8 and thanks for the reply
