backup and recovery of hidden files
I am in the process of rebuilding my laptop. Before I started, I took a backup of my hard drive to an external hard drive. Now when I try to restor my outlook PST file, I cannot find it in the backup. I turned on the options to show hidden files and folder. Now I can see the c:\Users\Username\Local Setting folder but it is empty. I went back to some older backup and they have the same behavior.
What am I missing? I cannot believe that Acronis does not backup hidden files. Did I forget to set a flag on the backup? How can I get my pst back?

I'm quite surprised at this design decision. Why should I have to alter my Windows user environment to view information within a proprietary database? For most users they will then most likely forget or neglect to reset this, leaving all of their hidden files exposed.
If you feel that I, as the owner/creator/manager of this backup file, should not see hidden files by default then at least give me the power to enable hidden file view from within the UI itself without affecting my Windows environment. But as the owner/creator/manager of this backup file, why shouldn't I see everything that I backed up by default?
Please reconsider this in future versions.
Best Regards

ati is trying to respect the user's windows settings. hidden and system files are special "protected" files, unless the windows user doesn't want to treat them that way.
Not an irrational descision. However, I'm with you on this matter. Anyone that isn't qualified to see hidden files is probably not qualified to be handling backups and restores. Just an opinion. At a minimum, when exploring a backup, you should be able to view control view hidden files wtihin ati. Otoh, the more stuff Acronis adds to ati, the greater the risk of errors or inadequate eror-handling. So the sword cuts both ways.

I have had my C:\Users folder and all subfolders (including hidden files) enabled for a very long time, but cannot restore ANY hidden folders as they do not appear in Time Explorer, even when they DO appear in Windows Explorer. When I open Configure Backup Settings I can see that the folders I want are all checked, but when attempting to restore, I cannot find ANY hidden files... Any clues?
