Backup can't be stopped

Thread solved

When I start TI, a backup task is began. But it never gets anywhere. The progress is always at 0%. If I choose cancel from the icon in the navigation widnow or Stop from withing TI itself, nothing changes. The task can't be stopped that way. If I open the tack manager and kill it, it starts back up again but never goes past 0%. The backup that it is trying to create is set to "Do Not Schedule". Or, at least, it was. I can't get to the settings now since it is always running. Can someone please explain how to kill this task and not have it start up again unless I want it to?

Tilden, I would recommend completely deleting the task and starting a new one.  Since it wants to run automatically and it's hard to stop, I would run the taskzap scheduler tool as outlined in this KB article:

https://kb.acronis.com/content/1859

If you want to kill "all" Acronis scheduled tasks, use

task zap

If you only want to kill a particular one, you'll need to identify the task with

task list  (locate the task and then select the appropriate # with the next command)

task #

task delete

if you have any issues with task zap, you might be able to stop the task from running in control panel >>> administrative tools >>> services

locate Acronis Scheduler 2 service and top and disable it.  Then go about cleaning the task, with the task scheduler tool, reboot, go into the console and delete the existing task in the menu (if it still exists) - you can keep the backup files if you want... then create a new task (use a new and unique name - don't use the same one again) and then see how it goes.

Glad to hear it!
