Backup Disk Filled Up - BackUp Failed - Can't delete TIB files - NEED HELP!!!

Thread needs solution

Installed 2014 TI Premium on friends PC and set it up for a weekly Full Back-up to a 1 TB Drive. Thought I had "Clean-up" check but obviously Not.. My friend ran a Backup and it failed because there wasn't enough space left. Each full backup is around 53GB. Tried to delete some older TIB's using Acronis but the Backup routine said it couldn't find any Files.. Saw something about deleting files using command line entries but haven't been able to find out how that is done. I don't want to fiddle with it too much and risk messing up Acronis's data base structure - If it isn't messed up already.

If someone can provide me with how to delete some of these Older TIB files or explain the syntax of the Command Line I'd really appreciate it. Even with that I have concerns as to whether the Acronis program's database isn't already trashed Because of it's failure to find any of the roughly 20 TIB files that are out there.

Also Is there any way to create a "new" backup and make it capable of seeing TIB files that are already on the Backup drive?? That might be the most expedient way to go with this problem. Thanks to any and everyone for any help they provide...

One other ALSO - Does anyone know if the existing TIB files will be visible, recoverable, and possibly Deletable, using the Acronis Recovery Disk??

Which version of Windows on friends PC? You give no indication of the type tib backups you wish to delete. Are the delete candidates
Full only,
or full with X number of incrementals,
or full with X number of differentials.
A screen capture of these tib files (sorted in date/time sequence ) could help.

There is no fix for making the existing backup task work for future backups. Stop using the existing task and start a new task with the correct cleanup settings. Here is an example for the new task. Choose your desired type of backup.

GH11. Create Custom Full Backup Scheme.Keep 4 versions (chains). The 4 is an example only with user choice for whatever number of chains to be retained best fits the individual needs..

GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme. 6 Inc, Keep 4 chains. The 6-4 is an example only with user choice for whatever number of chains to be retained best fits the individual needs.

GH13. Create Custom Differential Backup Scheme. 2 Diff, Keep 2 chains. The 2-2 is an example only with user choice for whatever number of chains to be retained best fits the individual needs.

In order to gain space for new tib files from the new task, the unwanted tib files will need to be moved to another storage location or deleted or partially deleted. Specific instruction will depend upon what files you have. The deletion can occur from within Windows Exploorer delete function as the existing task will not be used anymore. Sorry for not mentioning this - OS is Windows 7 and all of the backups are FULL (no incrementals ). I guess I'll just remove the existing task - check to see if the old TIB's disappear and if not use Windows to delete them- then create a new task and make certain the auto-cleanup is configured. She doesn't really need any of the old back-ups so once I give her a new one things should be OK. Thanks a lot for your input. I was a bit shocked at the volume of the reading material.
I run TI version 12 and noticed that they have a handy little option at the top to "explore all Back-ups" I didn't notice that feature on the 2014 version. Anyway thanks again for your help and your time..

I didn't even scratch the surface with the number of possible references. 2014 and 2012 are very much different.

As each full is a standalone file, the deletion of one should not bother another. Each full backup can be restored without any relationship to other full backups.
