Backup Fails as credentials are not saving

Thread needs solution

I have the online backup integrated into true image, every other day or so true image will "forget the passwords" and fail the task due to invalid credentials.

Hello ementalo,

Please accept our profound apologies for the inconvenience.

As I understand, every time you're trying to start a back up job, you need to enter your credentials, i.e. Acronis Standalone Online Backup just "forgets" your credential previously used?

If so, I may suggest you to delete a certificate file located at the following folder:

  • \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\TrueImageHome\OnlineBackup\<your_email>\client.crt (Windows XP)
  • \ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\OnlineBackup\<your_email>\client.crt (Windows Vista\Windows 7)

After that please reconnect to Acronis Online Backup. The most up-to-date certificate will be downloaded to the machine.

If the issue still persists, could you please make a screen shot with the window where you have the exclamation mark? If you are not familiar with making screen shots, please read the below step-by-step instructions:

  • Get to the window which you want to make a screen shot of;
  • Hit the (Alt+)PrintScreen button on your keyboard;
  • Run Paint usually available in Start\Programs\Accessories or another graphics application;
  • Choose Paste command in Edit menu;
  • Save the result in JPEG format and attach it to your reply to this thread.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

I am using Acronis True Image 2014 and the Cloud storage does not work because it cannot reconnect and I get the error message

"The certificate is not valid. Probably this computer is being used from another location. Please reconnect to Acronis Cloud to renew your certificate."

However I cannot find a way to renew the certificate. I cannot find a "client.crt" file as indicated in the solution to a similar problem in the above posts
