Backup Full Files not Image

Thread needs solution

I am still just performing a Trial run of this software. I tried to do a backup but it always wants to do an "image" of some type. All I want is for my files to be copied like for like. Not put in an encrypted or non encrypted file for later recovery. I want to be able to go to my destination folder for my backups and clearly see all my files. Does this software do that? If so, I cannot figure it out.

Also, I am trying to do a backup to a Drobo Unit from my PC. The software recognizes the Drobo unit and lets me choose it as a destination, however it fails when it does the backup (creating the folder).
The Drobo partition is created for all users, so I do not know what the problem is.

True Image places the files in a container file like many other backup programs.

You need a program like SyncBack, Karen's Replicator, ViceVersa, etc to copy the files to the backup destination in their native format. There are lots available and lots of them have a free version. Try Google.

BTW, I also prefer backing up data files in their native format and folder structure. The risk with this method can be a lack of versions being saved (you over-write your good backup file with a bad file before realizing it was bad). Some of them automatically create versions but you may have to get the paid program for this ability.

Microsoft's free SyncToy does a good job of syncing or backing up files in their original format and replicating their original directory structure. I use it as an adjunct to full disk images made with Acronis True Image.

There is also the Sync feature in 2012 which is plain copy, but you'd only be able to do file copies.

Thanks guys, I have about 3TB worth of Photos that I back up to a Drobo from several 1TB and 2TB USB Drives. The Drobo is 10TBs and is in a RAID configuration, along with dual redundancy. So I really don't need a "file" versus my pictures if that makes sense. The pictures are not going to change versions. ( I am a photographer by the way)

Therefore I want to be able to see the Native Format in case I need to bring it over for some reason. So I will try the other programs and see what works for me. The current Drobo Copy Software has issues with locked files which I or Drobo Support cannot figure out. They basically stated for me to find a more robust software. (Fair to them)

Currently trying SyncBackSE!
