Backup keeps failing with no space

Thread needs solution

I am using Trueimage 2013. I have re-setup the backup multiple times to delete chains older than 7 days, and not retain more than 1, yet I continue to run out of space on my 3TB hard drive as a result of them not removing. I am unsure if I am just setting up something wrong. Can someone assist with some best tips?

I really only want 1 full backup, and incremental, and then when the next week comes for it to delete ALL of that and start fresh with 1 full, incremental for rest of week, etc.

If I am understanding correctly, you basically want a full backup on Monday followed by an incremental on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (no backups on Sat or Sun)
On Monday, you want it to start over with a new Full again and delete the old files.

If the above is what you want, then the example below will do that except change the 6 inc to 4 and change the 4 chains to 1.

GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme. 6 Inc, Keep 4 chains. The 6-4 is an example only with user choice for whatever number of chains to be retained best fits the individual needs.

Now read the fine print.

TrueImage will NOT perform the delete of the prior version until AFTER the next full has been completed. After the the 2nd full has been completed,
the program will then delete the first chain of 1 full and 4 incrementals. So for whatver period time the next full is being created, you need storage space for
the 5 files of chain 1 plus the next new full. Question: Do you have enough storage space to handle the extra full for a few minutes prior to deletion of first chain of 5 files.

If the answer is yes, then the revised illustration will work for you.

The problem you encoutered before with the elapsed 7 days is that the day counter did not begin counting until the last incremental (prior to the new full) was older than 7 days. This cause the deletion not to occur until after full backup #3 was finished. A setting of 1 elapsed day might work but I would recommend the other method as in my example and the fine print quaification.

Any changes should begin with a new backup task.
