Backup not validating, bit chkdsk says: everything is okay

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I'm doing 2 different backups on a USB-HDD from Win7. One backup works fine, the other TrueImage says during validation that the backup-file is corrupt, which might be caused of a bad medium. The backup works fine if I do it on the internal harddisk for example.

Never had any problems with this disk, but to be sure I ran a full chkdsk /F /R - which found no errors, no non-valid files and no non-valid sectors.

Of course I'm a bit concerned doing backups on a disk which might be corrupt - what do you suggest?

As the .tib archive validates from your internal HD, but not from the external HD, clearly there's a problem with the external HD, the connection, or the USB port.

Run chkdsk /r on that drive.
Also run a drive checking utility from the drive manufacturer, as those sometimes catch errors missed by chkdsk.

Don't connect via a hub, a port in a monitor, a USB extension cord, etc. Connect the external drive directly to a USB port on the rear of the computer case. See if that works better.
