Backup seems to start, but never progresses

Thread needs solution

We have Acronis True Image Home and it was working great, but suddenly when we try to do a backup, the indicator remains at 0%, and the backup does not work. We backup from a laptop running Vista onto an external drive. We can Create/Copy files from the laptop to the drive manually, and there is *plenty* of free space on the drive. We have done a windows backup to the external drive sucessfully. We upgraded to the latest build of Acronis 11 build 8101, and we thought perhaps it was some sort of conflict with windows updates, but even after running the latest windows update nothing has changed. We can start a backup manually or scheduled, but while the files themselves appear to change, no backup file occurs, and the indicator remains at 0%. Please help.

Hello,

bin, thanks for your help.

BusyMom2, let me assist you.

As bin suggested, first of all try to back up using Acronis Bootable Media. You can download the media from your account or create it using Acronis Bootable Media Builder. You can find the information on how to create a bootable media at the Chapter 11 of the User's Guide.

Additionally, I may recommend you to update Acronis SnaAPI driver:

  • Download SnapAPI update;
  • Unpack the archive and run the SnapAPISetup.msi file;
  • Go through the wizard screens and hit Proceed to install the update.

(!) You will need to reboot the machine to finish the installation.

After that please check if the issue still persists.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Thank you.
