Backup validation Task execution failed

Same problem occurred with with my PC (Windows 7 x64 Enterprise SP1). But this was only after I did a separate installation of Internet Explorer 9 (unrelated to Microsoft's latest round of updates, which I did the day before).
Since then, the error pop-up has not reappeared, but the link to IE9 could be something for the Acronis programmers to investigate. Hopefully this will be addressed in future builds of the software.

Hi
I am getting the same message, the strange thing is that this didn't happen straight after upgrading, i think it was after a made a couple of backups, im so fed up, i was in two minds whether to update to the latest build as the old one was working fine, so looks like i made the wrong decision!!!

I'm getting the same message.
The error message does not tell you which program it comes from. I had to google the message and it took me to this forum. Not a good practice.

Hello all,
Thank you very much for posting and I would like to offer you a couple of workarounds for this issue.
We have released a KB article -
which has 3 workarounds for this problem.
Just in case, you can always contact our Support team with this report if you need immediate help.
Please let me know if you need additional help.
Thank you.

Thanks for the workarounds, but i must admit i dont feel comfortable in disabling the user account control (its there for a good reason) & really dont like playing about with the registry!
so that just leaves disabling all the acronis notifications.
I take it that the team is working on a proper fix for this issue??

"Un-installed Acronis, downloaded the previous build 6696, rebooted the system and reinstalled Acronis build 6696 and the problem is fixed. "
This seems to have worked for me. After two days of rebooting the computer each morning the message has not reappeared.
I guess I'll wait to update ATI 2011 until the next service pack.

Did you guys see that Acronis released a fix for this failed validation on reboot?

Its not a fix, its a workaround and not a very good one at that!!

Hi Anton
Thank you for the trying help us
Could you say, whether 6696 is supported Windows 7 SP1 or not?
www.acronis.de/support/updates/index.html is written: “New in this build (6857)
Windows 7 SP1 is now supported”
Is TIH2010 also supported Windows 7 SP1 or not?
By the way. I haven’t got any messages without external hard disk driver

I didn't try my copy because was told by Acronis that 2010/10.0 are not supported in Windows 7, which SUCKS seeing as how I bought it just last year for an old XP box, which ended up dying so I built a new Win 7 machine.

Scott,
2010 latest build is not the same as v10.0. 2010 latest build is supported on Win7.

Um, are you a software engineer/programmer for Acronis? Because that's what the person who, like...actually works for Acronis told me.

Oh, no... I am not an Acronis employee. I just want to make sure you knew there was a difference between v10 (v11, 2009, 2010, 2011 are the successors) and 2010. We see this confusion often on the forum because people call 2010 ATI10 and so forth...
So as you wrote 2010/v10, I guessed there was a risk of confusion...

Pat L probably doesn't work for Acronis but he is right.
TI10 is not TI2010, if TI2010 hadn't been released under the "new" numbering system it probably would have been TI13. TI2010 was released as a product that supports Windows 7.

I used the workaround "1. Particular Remove the notification from the registry" and after two days, the message appears again.

Hi
It does say that it might come back.
"This will remove only the current notification from the database. Thus, the issue may re-appear in some time (e.g., after you configure another task, run it, and detach the drive as described in Symptoms section)."

I too now get this irritating message on boot up - to me this 2011 version with Windows 7 is an absolute mess - I ran 2010 version faultlessly upgraded to this pile of pants and have had nothing but irritating problems and am totally fed up and lost confidence with it. Its unfriendly compared 2010 - the screen is bland and confusing - setting the schedules up is long winded, all in all for me, paid for an upgrade and got a downgrade.
I will soon be changing my software - Acronis have shot themselves in their foot with W7 version and just hide away behind their keyboards.
To go all through the above to fix what on face value is a program error is beyond my patience with this Acronis 2011 tin of worms.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !

I'm having this irritating warning too after accepting the Acronis update, trying to figure out what the warning message came from; finally figured it out.
The version installed now is 6857 and I would like to go back to 6696 but I'm unable to find it in the acronis web site (support). I even don't know if my former version was 6696 as my copy was coming from a download via Cleverbridge (now expired). I have this old file but I suppose it isn't the 6696, I remember there was an update done already that worked fine.
Is there a way I can download the 6696? :-)
Thank you for your help!

Gil,
Return to your Acronis registration/download page. One of the options is the availability of the older versions--at least for the English version.
All of the old builds are listed for each version registered. The Plus Pack is a separate listing,

Thank you GroverH,
Before running into the un/install, clean, edit & co mess, I might wait for a fix from Acronis ... :-)
Hope this will happen soon otherwise I will go for the old version. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.
Surely Acronis could display their commitment to customer satisfaction speeding up the fix.

Also using Windows 7 on i7 processor (custom machine). Just like everyone else, this started happening with the latest version 6857. What amazed me, was I uninstalled it, rebooted, reinstalled it, rebooted - and there was the error BEFORE I even did any backups!!!
Time for a downgrade. Let's see how long before they fix this, or my patience runs out for this product.

Pat L wrote:Go to your backup list, click on the Operations blue link, choose edit backup settings, choose the advanced tab. Unfold the validation segment. Click on the blue schedule link, unfold the advanced settings segment, uncheck the options there. Schedule the validation when you want it and when the backup location is active. If this is a network share, it might not be available immediately upon booting.

I have the same issue (win7 64x):
Operation has failed
Backup validation Task execution failed
Description: See operation log for details
Orignation of this message was not clear and message was unsigned.
Waiting for new build, will not spend any more time on a 'fix'.

Like everyone else, I have had this problem on both my computers within the last week: workstation with Win7HP x32 SP1 and my laptop, Win7HP x64 SP1. Given the timing when the error started to occur, I suspect it is related to my install of the latest build of ATIH 2011 about a month ago. Followed advice that Pat L gave to Gaslad and ran the registry program that deletes the keys involved and turned off the validation monthly that somehow appeared in my tasks and that has solved the problem at least for now.
As an Acronis customer of many years, I am very disappointed with the current build and version. I also have Disk Director and Online Backup so running the cleaner tool would involve a lot of uninstalling and reinstalling that should NOT be necessary with a quality product. Acronis have let us down. Please get a new build out with a permanent fix and, to reiterate what others have more eloquently said, fix the darned user interface - horrible compared with previous versions.
My thoughts.
Have a great day.
Regards,
-Phil

Having the same issue too (win7 x64):
And I must admit Philip Campbell is right. As a long time Acronis user (since TI 9.0) I'm very disappointed about the quality of the last update. I really hope this gets fixed soon because it's a pain in the ass (sorry for my rude language) and the workarounds are really not to my liking.
Best Regards,
Marc

I too had this irritating message as I said on a previous post, very reluctant to downgrade version as like the above posters, so I downloaded the registery zip file (w7-32 bit) and ran that. That was a few days ago. Admittedly it did throw up another error message on the re- boot, so I re-ran it and since then 'touch-wood' (that's how I feel about this 2011 version - its got to be the most buggy and bland upgrade to the 2010 program I have ever suffered - and that is no exageration) the error message has not occurred since.
I'm in the thought processes of upgrading my PC ..... and if anyone from Acronis reads this thread - do you honestly expect me to buy another Version of this 2011 - not on your nellie !!! Why they changed a winning format (2010) to this bland, buggy, disappointing up(?)grade only they know, and they don't seem very forthcoming with fixes or explanations IMO. The program takes an age to load in comparison too . Rant over....... :-(

Hi All
Just in case you hadnt seen this, there is a new build out that apparantly fixes this problem.

I have build 6868 installed and still have the same problem. Nothing has changed. The message now says:
Operation has failed.
Backup validation Task execution failed.
Description: Stage DescriptionSee
operation log for details.
End quote.
I have no scheduled backups and this occurs every time I boot the computer. Even the error message has gone downhill! I normally backup to a network share which is obviously not connected when Acronis checks the backup. Furthermore, I don't see why it should be trying to check the backup when I have not told it to. This defies logic.
It's a bit hard to blame the user, when so many different people have the same problem.

The program updating routine offered the new revision software; accepted and installed. The problem has gone.
It looks like Acronis people did a good release. :-)

I updated my Acronis a couple of days ago. This problem began this morning. I have a Window XP-Pro machine...
It seems that the good fix for Windows-7 machines is a bad update for XP machines.
- Se connecter pour poster des commentaires

If only this was true. My machine which has this problem is a Windows 7 64 bit system. The only way I have been able to cure the problem is turning off all services that Acronis have installed. Poor show :(

I have version 6868 of ATIH 2011 and have been getting the same message. It doesn't happen with every boot, but it does occur quite often. I have a Toshiba L675D laptop w/Windows 7 (64 bit). At first I didn't see this message but in the last 2 weeks it has been occurring frequently.

Am having same problem last backup acronis shows as successful am installing latest update and see if that helps. Can backup be successful and validation fail?
- Se connecter pour poster des commentaires

The website will not let me upgrade. It keeps telling my cart is empty and I need to start over.
- Se connecter pour poster des commentaires

It won't let me update the version. Every time I tell it to, it says I must start over even though I have filled everything out except an error code although the program doesn't report one.

Ray,
We have very little information about your status. Unless you have a very recent version of TrueImage installed, you will need to
buy the upgrade as a sales transaction.
uninstall the current TI version--perhaps run the TI downloadable cleanup utility as well
install the new version.
If you need more help, provide more info about your specific status.
