Bad Bootable media (Recovery media)
Dfownloaded upgrade version of 2013. Everything went fine except for the creation of a recovery disk (bootable media). The recovery disk launches fine, but when I attempt to back up it says that I have a trial version and cannot perform the requested operation.

The recovery media reports itself as build 5551, but also states that it is an Unregistered Trial Version. 2013 is installed correctly and reports as full version and activation successful, but the recovery media it creates is listed as the trial version. There is no media builder folder in the file system. let me check the start menu. --- okay. deleted it from the start menu and will now try a repair install.

You can also download the ISO from your Acronis account.

Making a recovery disk from the ISO file did it. Noticed during the disk write though that the recovery media builder from within the program wrote 282.7M, but the recovery disk created from the ISO wrote 301M. Quite a difference in size. The recovery media from within the program continued to read Unregistered Trial Version and would not let me back up my computer. The recovery media from the ISO did not contain the Unregistered message and worked normally to back up my computer.

Mary,
You might want to remove your email address from public access.
Are you letting True Image close the CD drawer? Don't close it yourself, place the CD in the drive and let Windows/True Image close the drawer.

I have the exactly the same problem. I am attaching two files that maybe would be useful for solving the problem: (1) System report, and (2) screenshot. From the screenshot, Acronis comes with the message "Please Open CD Drive", although there is a blank CD.
I tried both to wait on Acronis to close the drive and I closed the drive. Both failed. With the first option, it does not close, but rather says "Provide another media and try again."
I am able to create an iso-image and burn it with the Roxio software.
I am using Windows 7, and Acronis build is 5551.
I had similar problem with Acronis True Image 2012. It simply could not directly burn a bootable media to my CD/DVD/BR drive. I reported this to the Support, case 01652186, "Cannot create a bootable media" [ref:_00D30Zcb._50050Hs0lq:ref]. The error message I got with Acronis 2012: "The device is busy. (0x40010) Tag = 0x8B7F8138EBD33EC1." My CD/DVD/BR writer was not used by any other program, and should not be busy.
Best regards, Aleksandar

What type of CD are you using -CD-R or CD+R , it shouldn't be making a difference, but it is a possibility that can't be ruled out.

Aleksandar,
Your problem with the Acronis Rescue Media Builder may be related to Roxio/RecordNow software installed on your system if any Roxio/RecordNow packet writing software (Direct CD, Drag 2 Disk, etc.) is installed. This could very well cause your CD/DVD drive to appear busy to Acronis if it is monitoring your drive for media. Other software to look for is Sonic's DLA (Drive Letter Access).

Same Problem as Aleksandar. There ist no Roxio Software installed, but Cyberlink PowerToGo 5.
Now I create an ISO-File to burn the CD. That was succsessful.

I haven't installed Direct CD and Drag 2 Disk.
I am using CD-R
