Best Price for ATI Home 2012

Thread needs solution

I am ready to give ATI 2012 a try but since I am in no hurry I want to find a good deal on the full version. I own a license to 2011 but I do not want to fool around with the upgrade nonsense. I am looking for a legitimate purchase and not a bootleg copy. Have you found a bargain somewhere?

Don't bother purchasing it. Acronis versions get worse with every new version. They keep making the software more and more bloated, which creates more and more problems. Also their tech support people have no clue what they are doing and barely understand the English language. Seriously stay with the older version. Newer doesn't mean better especially with Acronis software. You can download a trail version of the new version, but I think you will be disappointed.

I used the 2012 trial on a secondary system and it seemed to perform fine although I admit I didn't do extensive testing. Which backup program do you use and what do you recommend?

This tends to be one of if not the cheapest legit source of ATI.

Definitely get the trial and see if the produt suits you and your hardware before buying. That goes for any backup program. If you're using ati2011, you are liekly to find ati2012 an improvement, especially after the first bug-fix build comes out. If you're happily using earlier versions, you might find the ati2012 interface confusing, in fact the more you are used to prior versions, the more confusing it probably will seem ;) .

I don't think there are any rebate programs in effect. Just as well, imo, the companies that administer rebate programs seem to like to reject applcations out of hand using various trumped up excuses to dissuade applicants from pursuing their rebates.

Thanks Scott. I am using ATI 2011 and it is not perfect but then neither was Ghost 15 before it. I may wait until the first patch or until I find a great deal.

You probably won't find better than half price--not from a legit source, anyway. Good idea to wait for the first fix-build to come out.

Ati2012 won't be a big step from ati2011 except some of the annoyances will have been tamed a tad. Main advantage of ati 2012 over 2011 is that you get the sync feature if that's of any interest.

I use Acronis True Image version 10. After that every version seemed to have gone down hill. A product I've been thinking about switching to is Shadow Protect Desktop Edition 4. It has great reviews and is a much better alternative although more expensive. Plus they have tech support that actually knows how to use a computer and will respond within hours at their forums if there is a problem. Go ahead and look at their forums and see how fast they respond compared to Acronis. There are also much less posts because there are much less problems!.

There are also much less posts because there are much less problems!.

...or perhaps because there are much less customers :)

Oh well, continue wasting time with new versions of Acronis if you want to. Good luck getting "support" to do anything about either. They can barely speak the English language, yet alone use a computer...

I have to 100% agree with you. Once True Image was good imaging software but it seems that those days are gone for good. At least try trial before paying upgrade.

I just bought ShadowProtect Desktop and I'm completely satisfied. It is install and forget program. There is no useless bells and whistles just disk imaging that I need. And when I tested imaging and restoring I was totally amazed speed of ShadowProtect Desktop! I just love it.

For the record that it was not easy task to switch something another program as I have been loyal Acronis customer for a so many years (as you can see) and I have wrote countless recommendations on forums/blogs and many "how to" -guides for True Image (and some for Disk Director). So I think you all understand I deeply tested multiple softwares before I made decision to switch off True Image. My warmest recommendation for ShadowProtect Desktop.

Btw. If you choose try out ShadowProtect Desktop, request full 30 trial so you can test restore too.

I'm so happy that I took red pill and woke up! :)

Bob,
Hello ... If you can purchase 2010 ( on line search) and stick at v-7046... T&D and Full Image Backups (non scheduled), Cloning , work with Vista , "7" and XP-Pro... It's been downhill from there...Regards Fred
