Can I recover a WINXP boot record from a TI11 full backup?

Thread needs solution

Running WinXP SP3 on a Dell Inspiron 530 desktop. Can't boot.
I have a month old full backup of this system. I don't want to restore
it because I'll lose a month's worth of data. When I did a FIXMBR from
the recovery console it said that it had successfully written a new master
boot record. When I did a FIXBOOT it got an error message. Bottom
line is that I can't boot off the drive.
Is there any way to get the XP boot record from the TI11 backup
and write it and only it to the hard drive?
Thanks,
RB

Boot from the TrueImage v11 REscue CD and choose the Recovery option.

When you click on the *.tib file to be restored, one of the options to restore should be the
track 0/MBBR option and it can be restored as a single item.

If you do not have the rescue cd, then visit your Acronis registration account and download the v11 iso file. Then burn the iso file onto a CD to create an ISO Rescue Cd which will work similar to the basic Rescue CD.

You might want to boot from the Rescue CD and create a new "disk option" full backup. At the very least, you would then be able to copy/paste these new files onto another older backup if worst comes to worst.
