Can I use 2 destination drives for backup?
I have scheduled a differential backup with the following settings:
a. create full version after 10 differential versions
b. store no more than 4 recent version chains
c. do not delete the first version of the backup.
My full backups are about 1.5TB and the differentials range between 05.GB - 90GB.
My destination disc now does not have enough room for a second version chain and the schedule full backup did not run. I have a second drive that I can use for backups, but I am not sure whether to:
1. Cut back the recent version chains to store 2 chains and try to set-up the backup process to run across 2 destination drives (is that even possible?) or
2. Create two Backup schemes, each with a different destination drive, and then manually alternate between them.
Please advise

I have room for 3 fulls plus 20 differentials ( 1 + 11+ 11) across two 4TB drives (2 keep chains). I know that I will have to reduce the # of keep chains from 4 to 2. What I don't know is how to modify the backup process to use 2 destination drives.

If both 4TB drive will remain attached permanently to your PC preferably installed internally it is possible to create a spanned volume across both drives using Windows Diskpart utility making it appear to Windows and any installed applications that the created volume is 1 drive having 1 drive letter. A spanned volume creates a dynamic disk and is not fault tolerant which is something you would need to consider in doing this. If this is something you want to consider here is a link that should be of benefit:
