can no longer from acronis boot dvd

Thread needs solution

can no longer from acronis boot dvd//

funniest thing.
well not so funny.
been trying to restore my hard drive for a few days not (ok, more than a few)

suddenly i can not boot from the same 'acronis recovery cd' i've been using all along (it is actually a dvd)

but wait: i had actually made 2 'recovery cd's. . . . . but that does not help because NEITHER OF THE TWO CAN BOOT!!

not to dispair, right??? i mean, i can restore to XP by installing it, install acronis 2010 on top of that, and just create another 'acronis recovery' media and i should be all set.

only problem is that that, yeah, i can create another recovery dvd, but IT SIMPLY CANNOT BOOT!

AND OF COURSE, THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ANYBODY EXCEPT ME. . . . i search, but find nothing.

any clues??

I would suspect the DVD drive - it suddenly can't read neither of three disks?

yeah, first thing i thought of too. . . .except. . .

a- i can boot from windows install dvd.

b- i can install the acronis 2010 ti home dvd, every time after i reload xp. . . .which i can re-load at will all from the same drive!!!

c- i can install 'partition magic' from a dvd using the same drive

the only thing i cant do is boot from acronis boot disks i had been using many times

this is what it actually says: "Selected boot device not available". . . . after it blinks about 20 times -reading the drive

Have you tried using a different CD media (different brand, CD-R/RW instead of DVD-R/RW, etc.)? Sometimes a drive will have problems reading a particular media and work just fine on others.

All the disks that work are factory-printed CD/DVDs, right? Can the recorded boot CD be read from Windows?
