Can not clone / restore to a larger disk
hello,
I have True Image 2013 build 5551 installed on a Windows 7 64b ultimate.
As my actual disk 500 GB is almost full, I am trying to clone it to a larger disk 750 GB.
Source disk is a Seagate ST950042 3AS 500GB
Target disk is a Seagate ST945042 0AS 750GB
Target disk is actually plugged with an adapter on a USB port.
Target disk is fully recognized by the OS and writable as well if I format it.
For the cloning, I just let target disk with whole space unallocated (no partition).
Then I launch Acronis True Image 2013 / Disk Clone utility.
Source disk is available. Target disk remains in gray and not available / not selectable.
If I try to restore from the last backup, the Target disk simply does not appear as a possible target destination.
Am I missing something?

Use the bootable media to do the clone or restore. Place the target drive in the position of the orignal source drive. Boot to the Rescue Media and use the tool" Add a new disk" to prepare the new SSD for use. (If you can't "see" the new SSD with this tool, there may be issues with hardware support for your system from the bootable media.) The new SSD will need to be prepared as either MBR or GPT, but should be prepared the same as the original SSD. You do not need to create any partitions with the tool, only perform the initial step of creating the MBR or GPT disk. This will create an "unallocated" disk, ready for reciveing the clone, or the restore from backup.

James, thank-you for the info. How do I prepare the new SSD as either MBR or GPT ? The new disk actually has one program on it already.
What is very confusing is I have a Full Backup on an external HDD called the N Drive ( in a Sata Dock ). When I try to recover from that location using it as the source it looks for possible destination locations but my 240gb SSD destination drive is not on that list ? So, then I switch to I think its called Disk Mode ( upper right corner ) and suddenly the source disk is no longer the N Drive but the actual C Drive the one that I backed up, and it's the only one listed as a source ? Now, the only Destination Disk available to me is actually the one I want to recover to ( i.e. the destination disk ). Prior to all this I had already placed the 240GB destination disk in the SATA Port that the original 120gb C:/boot drive ( backed up drive ) was in. It appears to be doing the recover but then tells me that the system must restart to continue, fine, but I'm also told along the way that I have to remove the source drive before the next Windows restart for the process to complete ? Which source drive the N Drive that holds the backup, the C:/ drive that appeared to end up being the C:/source so I could actually see the 240gb desination ? And, how do I restart the system without restarting windows ? It seems to give conflicting instructions ? If I boot from the backup media it doesn't seem to see the 240gb drive at all ?

Please boot to the Rescue Media, and open the tool "Add a new disk". If Acronis can "see" your new SSD in this tool, you should be able to perform a restore from your backup or perform a clone from your source drive, after using it to "initialize" the new SSD. On you system, MBR is probably used, but you can check using Windows Disk Management. Be aware that using this tool will wipe off any partitions, as well as any programs/data, and will create a blank "unallocated" disk.
Using the bootable Rescue Media, you would not need the original source drive installed in the system (you can just disconnect the cables). Just boot to the Rescue Media, use the "add a new disk" tool to create the MBR style disk layout, and then while still booted to the Rescue Media, restore your backup from the external drive to the new SSD, selecting "whole disks/partitions", selecting the new SSD as the target.
