Can not recover Windows Mail

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I made a successful backup of my mail (Windows Mail) using the full version of True Image Home 10, and Windows Vista Pro.

After a clean install of Windows Vista Pro I try to recover the mail archive that was backed up. True image seems to run ok but the progress is always 0%, but after a while it says it has been restored (though the progress were 0% all the time).

But none of the mails show up in my inbox (or anywhere on the hard drive).

The backed up archive is 2.4 GB so it has to contain something, but I can no get it restored.

How can I extract the email messages?

BR/Peter

Still no solution, instead your last suggestion (by email) was that I should create Bootable rescue Media... why should I do this? I have a backup that I can not restore, and I have True Image installed on my new computer already.

Please help me solve this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Peter,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

Windows Mail is not supported by Acronis True Image 10.0 Home. Probably, you will be unable to restore the archive properly.

If you have an image of your system partition, you can restore the image to the same hardware and use the built-in Import/Export options.

If due to some reasons you are unable to perform the recovery of the system partition, try to restore with Acronis True Image the respective Windows Mail folders separately and add them to the new system. To add the necessary registry keys you should restore the appropriate Windows file ( \Windows\System32\Config\SYSTEM), mount it to the current registry and add the respective keys to the current registry.

You can use Google search for more information on how to do it.

If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other questions do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.
