Can not start DELL GX620 from boot disk

Thread needs solution

I created a bootable CD from Acronis True Image 2009 Home. I wanted to use it on a DELL Optiplex GX620. Unfortunately the PC does not boot from this disk. It looks like a driver issue, as it will boot from a bootable Acronis Workstation 10 disk, however I intended to use the home edition for this machine.
As the GX620 is a dektop machine, I expected the bootable disk of the home edition to work. What can I do to get it to work?
I tried setting SATA mode to native with no effect.

Hello PeetD,

I will do everything possible in order to resolve the issue you experience.

The issue concerns lack of drivers under Acronis bootable disc. Please download ISO image based on ISOLinux from your account under Registered Products and create Acronis bootable disc using third-party software. ISOLINUX Bootable Media is usually more up to date than the Acronis Loader one. This is due to the fact a new version of Acronis Bootable Media is uploaded to the website more frequently than regular product updates are released.

ISOLINUX Bootable Media has several boot parameters that may help overcome possible issues with booting. You can also set a specific VGA resolution in the ISOLINUX media if there an issue with the Graphical User Interface (GUI). Check the following article for more details.

If you are not using the latest build 9809 you may want to update to it, then recreate Acronis bootable disc.  I am not certain if the issue is addressed in the new build at this point, however it is generally a good idea to be up to date.

Let me know if the issue persists.

Thank You.

Hello Dmitry,

I can't seem to find the ISOLinux mISO image under my account>registerd products. Can you be more specific as to where I can find this information?

Thanks,

PeetD

URGENT: I have an Acronis True Image backup (version 11) made on a Dell Latitude D600 laptop. The D600 is broken and cannot be fixed. I am trying to install the emage on a Latitude E6500 without success. The recovery is working, however the system doesn't boot and runs in loop -- it starts booting, than aborts and starts again

I've checked the archive and there are no problems with the backup data. I've even tried with an older backup and the same problem. The backup and restore works for the Windows XP which was factory installed on Latitude E6500.

Thanks
Manuel

Hello all,

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

Let me help you with the issue.

PeetD, please follow the below guide to download the ISO image:

  1. Log in to your account (if you do not have one, you will need to create it);
  2. Once logged in, click My Products & Downloads:

  3. Scroll down to the registered product and click Bootable Media:

  4. Click Download:

  5. Acronis Bootable Media will be downloaded as an ISO file. See Burning an ISO Image.

Manuel, it is quite normal that your system can't boot up correctly. The thing is that you've restored your image to a dissimilar hardware. In order to do this correctly, you need to use Acronis Universal Restore add-on, that is a part of Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack. Please have a look at this KB article to have a detailed guide on how to restore your image to a different hardware.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.

Hello Ilya,

Thanks for your response. However when I verify the "My products & Downloads" page, I see only the Acronis True Image 2009 Home download of build 9769 (see attached screenshot). This is the build I am actually having problems with! Previously I saw Dmitry referring to build 9809 as the latest build (see previous post in this thread). Unless you upload a new build (newer then 9769) there is no use for me downloading the one I already have...

I'm having a similar issues with a Dell E6500 laptop. My bootable CD and USB just loop when trying to load True Image 2009. I've downloaded the Bootable ISO with the same result. It's strange because it just started happening with a new shipment of E6500 laptops we recevied.

Hello all,

I will do everything possible in order to resolve the issue you experience.

PeetD and Eric I have sent you ISO images in ISOLinux format (build 9809) via private messages. Create bootable discs using third-party burning software and let me know if the issue persists.

You can find more information on how to burn an ISO image to a CD at:

http://iso.snoekonline.com/iso.htm

http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.

Hello Dmitry,

I have tested with bld 9809: a DELL Optiplex 745 will boot from it, however the Optiplex GX620 still can not boot.

Any other suggestions that might work?
Peet

Hello Peet,

We need some additional information from you in order to determine which component fails to load causing boot issue. Could you please make a digital photo of the following outputs:

1. At boot parameters selection screen please choose second parameter and capture the last output screen

2. On the same parameters selection screen please issue

kernel.dat and press Enter, then capture the last screen

Please attach both pictures to your answer in this thread.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

Alexander,

Well I do not get to the boot parameter section screen. I insert the boot CDROM boot the PC and all I see is a flashing cursor in the top left corner of the screen, nothing happens from that point onwards.

Peet

Hello Peet,

Thank you for the clarification.

In this case we should exclude the following:

1. Particular ISO file corruption: in order to do so, please re-burn the CD from the ISO file. If you do not have the original file, note that we have implemented the possibility to download the appropriate ISO file after logging into your account (the serial number should be registered). This option is available for the current and (n-1) versions. Please log in to your account, go to the Registered products and downloads section -> Bootable media. Download the file.
To get access to the ISO you should first register Acronis software.

You can find more information on how to burn an ISO image to a CD here.

2. CD drive issue - please try to boot any other bootable CD on the same PC (for example Windows installation disk) and check the results.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

Hi Alexander,

1. The CD created from the ISO file (build 9809) is working on other PCs then the DELL GX620 so that rules out file corruption and..
2. The GX620 can boot from other bootable media so the CD drive is working fine

Must be driver support from what I can see. How can this be resolved?

Regards,
Peet

Hello Peet,

Thank you very much for the clarification. It would be better to switch the communication to e-mail channel, because I'm going to ask you for some personal information. I will send you the e-mail in several minutes.

Best regards,
