Can we make feature requests here? Would like ask for NAS versions of Acronis, for ReadyNAS and Synology, etc.
Hello,
I would like to see versions of Acronis that could be purchased and installed on NAS OS's. While I have several NAS's, I don't think it would be that hard to port TIH or even SnapDeploy to the Linux builds they currently use. Heck, I think if you had a Linux version of Acronis, you could possible do this on your own. I know that Acronis can be use with a TFTP and PXE server, you just use the ISO and have that presented as the boot disk for PXE. However, there are limited options that an installed version would be able to overcome (like the ability to save the share path where the TIB files are stored, which MAC address uses which TIB files and backup sets, etc.).
I know the ReadyNAS is based off Debian, and I think the Synology NAS's use Slackware. Since I know Acronis to be Linux based in nature (at least from what it looks like to me), the in-house development experience should already be there to develop a release of this magnitude.
I can say for sure, this would be a FIRST is recovery software, and also a FIRST for the NAS users. I have seen instructions on how to install Clonezilla on several NAS's, and since most of the NAS makers readily provide a SDK, this should not be difficult.
So my request would also make Acronis a leader in exploring other environments and platforms for their Backup software. Since the products already support backing up to a NAS, why not support integration with a NAS? More and more home users are exploring the NAS markets now, and with routers like the ASUS line that are now shipping with NAS functions built into their firmware (I have a ASUS RT-AC68U), this move makes sense at this time (June 2015).
Just my thoughts, would'nt it be great if Acronis was the FIRST product to be available with a NAS version? (MAC, Windows, Linux, phone OS's already being supported).

Hi,
Glad we agree.
I know the ReadyNAS, and Thecus, also use Busybox, so some of the core elements are already in place to integrate the Acronis core software.
