Cannot boot from cloned disk

Thread needs solution

I bought a new hypbrid drive for my laptop running Windows 7 Professional SP1. I mounted the old drive in a USB enclosure and used Acronis Rescue Media from True Image Home 2012 to clone the drive using all the defaults (MBR disks). The clone operation reported it completed successfully, but the laptop will not boot from the cloned disk. Acronis Drive Cleanser in readonly mode reports two partitions on the disk: System_Drv: (C:) and System Disk (my label) (D:). Both report having 8kB reserved for a boot record) and both report no errors found.

What do I do to get the laptop to boot?

Greetings.
From the looks of it, your set up does not have a System Reserved partition. I see your notes about the boot manager being on your c:\ partition.

Have you tried a Start Up repair using your Win7 install DVD?

For some reason, the cloned disk did not have a Master Boot Record. I used the TestDisk utility on a HIREN Recovery CD to write their MBR to the first sector and the new disk now boots! I have no idea why cloning the disk wiped out the MBR.

Thanks for heading me in the right direction, shadowsports.

so the MBR-fix did the trick? Have you tried creating a new image from the machine and then deploy that newly created image on the same machine?
