cannot clone Lenovo Y410P (disc layout will remain GPT)

Thread needs solution

I have Ti 2013 and windows 8.1 on the Lenovo
I want to clone the 1TB HDD on the Lenovo Y410P to a WD 320 HDD in case of HDD failure. TI starts fine and I select the source disc and the destination disc fine and TI seems like it wants to do the clone ok but after restart is says: The destination disc will be restored as is (disc layout will remain GPT)
Does anyone know what is going on here and why this won't clone the hard drive? I have cloned hard drives before with no problem but haven't run into this situation before.
Thanks
