Cannot Create Recovery Disk

Thread needs solution

I made an aborted attempt to create a recovery CD today with no success. When I started going through the program to create the disk, it gave me several options for programs to use. I chose the default RealPlayer, which was a mistake. I didn't know you had to have the paid version to burn a CD. Now I only get an Error Device is busy (0x40010) Tag=0x8B7F8138EBD33EBC. I think it's trying to get back to RealPlayer, but can't.

I deleted RealPlayer from my system, but still no luck. How do I get back to the program options list? I want to use Roxio Easy CD and DVD Creator like I should have in the first place.

If you're using the Media Builder program (or selecting the option from inside TI) to create the TI CD and you get the "Device is busy" error, try leaving the CD/DVD tray open with the blank CD in it. Media Builder should pull it in when it's ready to burn.

If you're trying to use another program to create the CD, you need to use Media Builder to create an ISO and then burn the ISO to a CD using an ISO capable burning program.

I think it's been able to burn CDs for a while now, but I haven't heard of using it to burn an ISO. (I haven't used the program in years, though.)

I don't understand why it would come up as an option or even where it would come up as an option.

Hello Richard,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/ | Acronis Products]]

You can always download ISO image of Acronis bootable disc for any registered version of Acronis True Image from your account and use third-party burning software to create recovery disc.

You can find more information on how to burn an ISO image to a CD/DVD at:
http://iso.snoekonline.com/iso.htm

Mudcrab - Thanks for that - Create bootable media did not want to know with Vista Home Premium/Dell Studio (Real Player is installed and has done usual trick of taking everything over) - Dell internal CD drive would not pull in, but resorted to external DVD -R drive which worked a treat

Somebody clean up and sticky this thread about the "leave the CD tray open" trick. That is slick.

Unfortunately users will post about the problem before reading the Sticky and you might as well tell them to "leave the tray open" than "go read the Sticky".  :-)

Funny. The tray open trick did NOT work for me on my laptop (Sony VAIO Z) under Win XP Pro. But saving to an ISO and burning that to a CD ROM did work.

Of course the ISO was burned to a CD ROM (I used Nero) in the same drive where Acronis True Image 2010 kept telling me

Error
Device is busy (0x40010)
Tag = 0x8B7F8138EBD33EC1.

So that solved my problem on making a recovery disk, but it seems like this is a little bug that should be squashed.

All the laptops I've come across will not be able to use the "tray open trick" because the trays cannot be pulled in by the laptop - they have to be closed manually.
