Cannot find backup version

Thread needs solution

I have been successfully running a daily backup for two months and suddenly a few days ago True Image could not find the correct version to continue the daily backup. I now get this error message:

"Cannot find version ThinkPad_-_Daily_Selected_File_Backup_-_beginning_16APR14_full_b5_s1_v1.tib.
You may have moved or deleted it. Please click Browse and specify its location, or ignore this message."

The version has not been moved or deleted. I can see this version (and all previous versions) in my file list when I use "Browse" to try to direct True Image to the correct version. However, no matter how many times I point True Image to the correct version or no matter how many times or how many times I run the backup, I still get the above error message telling me that True Image cannot find the version. Any suggestions?

Are you doing any type of consolidation? Either manually or allowing the program to consolidate?
Consider posting a screen capture of your storage folder, files sorted in date/time sequence.
We can't find the file but we might be able to offer some suggestions for going forward.
Also, how is your backup scheme configured?

Thanks for your prompt reply, Grover. What do you mean by "consolidation:"? I am certainly not doing a manual consolidation since I don't even know what that means. Everything is set to work automatically. What is the best way to provide the details of a "backup scheme"?

Just to say have same problem. An my NAS is availble. Incremental Full every 3, clean after 14.

I often got the error, while working, so I check imedialtey local LAN, all good.

I never had such with Norton, Symantec Ghost.

For the price I expect smooth operation and self healing. If not fund, start new verison.

Rotozaza, the most frequent cause of that error is that paths to .TIB files have been changed without True Image being notified about that. In other words, if you manually move, rename or delete .TIB files which are currently part of backups displayed in True Image interface, the software cannot find them anymore by their old paths and errors out. Examples also include changes in paths to .TIB files, e.g. when any parent folder is renamed or moved.

If you need to do any action from listed above, you need to remove corresponding backup from True Image`s list of backups (choose "Options" - "Delete" - "Settings only" on latest 2016 version), then move around or delete .TIB files / change paths and finally add those .TIB backups back the list (Add existing backup on 2016 version). You would need to reconfigure backup settings after that in order for backups to continue running automatically.

Thank you for the suggestion about how the program should behave in such case (start new version if "self healing" is not possible).

No I don't move them, and all other services, even by VPN run smoothly.

Right now it says can't find version 1, and after opening it, it calculates remaining time since 20 minutes although everything is there, connect by Windows Explorer, and e.g. Windows offline partition grabbed latest files without any problem.

May it struggle with hidden shares, as the the path points into a hidden share?

Rotozaza, we do not have any known issue with Acronis True Image 2016 that would be specifically related to hidden shares. Does any of your backups have v2, v3, v4 etc in the end of file name (v stands for volume)? If yes, it would mean that during backup creation network connection was interrupted and backup was split in parts-volumes.

In your place I would enable silent mode in backup options, section "Error handling", and increase the number of attempts from default 5 to 10 or 15.

If the issue persists, I suggest you to submit a ticket at http://www.acronis.com/support/ to get further assistance. If you will pay a suport fee (http://www.acronis.com/en-eu/support/ppi.html) and our investigation will show that there is a problem with the program itself, the fee will be refunded.

Hello Acronis Management

I buy SW since 1988. Acronis True Image is worst investment I ever did.

I chose Acronis based on good experience with Partition Expert. I used for many years Ghost, without any issue.

Acronis True Image 2016 was never able to make images from my performance Windows 10, mainly connection issues, not finding backup version files, locking its own version files, hanging for hours preparing. Testing 3 different NAS over LAN.

Just gave a try today with latest uopdate, no chance. result, need to kill all processes.

I ask for refund.

Vulg: I'm totally pissed!

Which I did. Silent, attempts
