Cannot install SnapApi update

Thread needs solution

I have the issue of True Image home complaining of "cannot read from sector..." I am running the latest version of True Image Home 2011. When I attempt to run chkdsk /r on my disk the machine locks up. When I attempt to install the latest SnapApi the install takes forever, 30 minutes or more, and ultimately times out. I have uninstalled Symantec Antivirus as I thought that may be the issue but it made no difference.

I should add that I was running True Image Home 2009 and I started having the "cannot read from sector..." issues so I just went ahead and upgraded and I'm still having the issue.

I originally installed version 2011 with 2009 also installed but later uninstalled 2009. I was going to try and reinstall 2011 but I can only do a repair. It will not uninstall.

I am running Vista with the latest patches.

Any help is apprecciated. I am ready to throw in the towel and reformat my drive!!!

Hello Robert,

Thank you for your post. I will do my best to assist you.

Please accept my sincerest apologies for the inconvenience. This issue will require additional investigation that is why I would really appreciate if you can collect this report and contact our Support team. It seems there is an issue with our low-level drivers responsible for disk operations.

If you have additional questions please let me know.

Thank you.

Hello Anton,
I generated the report and sent it to support but I have yet to hear from them. Can you please assist? I believe my 30 day support expires on 11/30.
Thanks,
Rob

Also note that when I run chkdsk C: /r my system freezes and has to be cold booted.

Hello Robert,

Thank you for the follow-up.

I was not able to find your case using the e-mail in your Acronis web-account. Do you think you could let me know the case number or if you are using a different e-mail address? When a case is submitted an automatic response is sent giving the case number.

It is possible your system freezes during chkdsk because of some processes conflict. I would suggest to either try running chkdsk in Windows safe mode or, using the Windows CD.

Looking forward to your reply and if you have additional questions, please let me know.

Thank you.

Anton,
I am now running the latest release and I am still having problems. I am still encountering the "cannot read from sector" issue. I have tried all the troubleshooting steps with no luck. I have uninstalled TIH 2011 and the SnapAPi drivers and resintalled numerous times with no change.

Can you confirm what version of the SnapApi drivers I require as it seems there are multiple versions available.

I am running out of options and I am very dissapointed that this software is causing me so many problems. I am in panic mode as I have not had a successful backup for 2 months. It last worked with TIH 2009. I have never had a successful backup using TIH 2011.

Please help!

Thanks,
Rob

Now running Latest Build: #6574 (159.14 MBNovember 25, 2010 )

Hello Robert,

Thank you for the follow-up.

Would it be possible for you to send me a private message with these 2 reports?

1. Acronis Report.

2. AcronisInfo report.

We do not have specific rules for SnapApi versions, depending on the situation we provide the latest available versions which has known issues fixed, but I would like to study your reports first.

I am very sorry for any inconvenience, but as a workaround can you create a backup using the bootable media?

Looking forward to your reply and if you have additional questions please let me know.

Thank you.
