Cannot restore from nonstop backup

TIH 2011 - I'm attempting to restore a folder from a nonstop backup on an external
sata drive. I select Files and Folders, then select the drive, and the program goes into
"Calculating", and after a few seconds, reports the files and bytes found.

Next, I click on the Recover button, and the "recovering" window opens, and displays
"Time Remaining", but that's the end of the show. After even 20 minutes, nothing has
happened, no bar progress shows, it's as if the program is hung somewhere. It will respond
to "cancel" however.

Task manager does not show any Acronis process with any significant CPU time, so it looks
like pretty much nothing is happening.

This isn't very encouraging.
