DTM,
I'm not sure this is your issue. Do you have drives which are not pictured?

Using the Rescue CD is another option until you can find and correct your cause.

When you click on the arrowhead shown as #1, does it open to display your My computuer icon? or what is displayed?

I don't have a specific answer for your issue but a couple things you could try.

1. Reopen your downloaded install file for your currect installed build and start the install again and you can then choose the repair option.

2. If that does not work, then contact support and fill out a support request advising of your issue of disk not recogniized. You will need your serial number to create your request.

I uninstalled ATI 2011 Build 5519, then reinstalled, now it works. Buggy software?

Hello all,

Thank you for your messages.

Grover, I really appreciate your help.

DTM, I will definitely assist you with this.

Our program uses a component called SnapApi which is in charge of disk operations and disk detection. Most likely the first time you installed the software for some reason the SnapApi components failed to update properly and were malfunctioning. When you re-installed the program the issue was corrected.

Please let me know if you have additional questions or any other problems.

Thank you.

I have same issue. I back up my documents on the networks share at home. I have notbook.
On my job this networks share isn't available. And when i open new backup on my job, i can't select destination. Like image in the first message.
I installed new version 6597 today, but it isn't resolved my issue.

Hello Andrei,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the forum. I will do my best to assist you with this issue.

Let us start with the network share problem. Please check this article as a reference to make sure you are doing all the proper steps.

After that, I would like to ask you for screenshots of the network share how it is visible in Windows and then in Acronis True Image 2011 Home. You can send them to me through a private message.

The second issue can occur as I posted above, because the drivers did not update properly. Can you run the installation file and select repair installation? If you continue to have this problem, please send me a private message with the AcronisInfo report.

Looking forward to your reply and if you have additional questions please let me know.

Thank you.

I am having the same issue on latest version (updated Dec. 20th). Acronis sees the backup destination drives, except that I cannot choose a destination drive. I click the drop-down arrow, and nothing happens.

This has happened since I bought the 2011 version. Sometimes it works, other times not. I cannot figure out why it works sometimes. Rebooting, shutting off external drive, etc. does not reliably fix issue. Nor does uninstalling and reinstalling (I had issue on a previous clean build).

All drivers on the system are up to date.

Here is a screenshot attached of the screen I see (the drive called F: 'backup' is the drive I would like to select as the destination drive). WDBlack and Backups are on different controllers in the system (WDBlack is on the Intel ICHR10 controller, and the Backups drive is on a Jmicron controller, on Asus Rampage III Formula). Had the exact same issue on my Asus P6T.

Hello all,

Thank you for your comments.

I would like to help you with resolving this issue. Would you mind downloading the latest version of the SnapApi drivers, 586 and see if the issue persists?

If it does, I would really appreciate if you could provide me with the following logs:

1. AcronisInfo report.

2. SnapApi logs. (please send me a private message so that I can send you the instructions, they require additional unique links to be generated)

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

I have the same issue: cannot choose a destination (screenshot in attachment). I sent system report to Anton by PM.
Then I realized the cause: In my system I have attached one network drive which was disconnected. You can see it in the screenshot. Under these circumstances Acronis True Image Home (ATIH) GUI has frozen for 1 min. immediately after start and then cannot see destinations in dialog box. After I unattach the disconnected network drive from system ATIH start normally and can see the destinations without problem. So the cause is clear: ATIH continuously send requests to all drives and expects response. If the drive is attached but disconnected so it cannot respond to ATIH request, ATIH runs into collapse.

The snapapi drivers have not been able to fix this for me either. Right now I am running my system unprotected.

Christopher,

Don't go unprotected. Boot from the Rescue CD and perform a disk option backup when booted from the CD.

When booted from the TI user created Rescue CD, this info can help.

Does the prior post by Edo provide any temp solution. What shoud be happening is that there should be a default location appearing in the windows and by clicking on the arrowhead to the right, a window should open for you to choose the drive and folder where you want the backup to be stored.

Have you tried disconnecting any usb devices; or powering up a usb printer? If using a external drive for your backup, consider assigning a constant drive letter such as x or y or z.

Have you tried doing a repair of your install? Restart the downloaded install program and choose install. Within a few seconds, a window will open providing the repair option.

Hi Grover. Thanks for the suggestions.

- Edos issue does not appear to be the same as me. No network or disconnected drives.
- clicking on the arrowhead on the right of the drop down box lists no drives to back up to. Strangely, Acronis sees the drive I want to use (and gives me the option to back it up, as shown in a previous screenshot I provided) but will not allow me to select it as a destination drive, even though I ensure the drive is unselected as a backup source.
- I have not tried the bootable CD yet.

I have created log files and sent them via PM to Anton.

Your symptons sounds a lot like this posting.

Simulate creating a new task which is a "files & folders" backup rather than a partition backup.
Is the missing drives listed either as a source or destination?

I believe there may be ways of creating or renewing an "MBR" without destroying the data on the disk.

When I use the File Backup method I do not see the drive.

I have tested two other backup solutions (including Windows backup) this afternoon and both see the destination drive perfectly (although I did not try to do a backup, I just wanted to verify if the drives appeared available).

edit: The Acronis boot media DO see the drives properly, and can access them
