Can't Clone with ATI WD Edition
I am trying to clone a failing disk. I have the 2nd disk set up as slave. The clone just says 'task failed' about 20 seconds after it starts. After several tries the master disk is labeled as disk 1 and the empty disk is disk 0. I seriously have no idead why it won't work, i have used this before. The disk i am cloning failed the Quick Test. Is there a way i can get it to work?
I also tried EaseUS. it cloned the recovery partition? lol. So maybe something is blocking it or the disk error is preventing the clone? Help me, please!
If your disk is really failing, then the probability that you will be able to clone it without errors is not very good. If you can't read the disk reliably, you certainly can't copy it. Another strategy would be to backup each partition individually, and then try to restore each one to the new disk. Backups don't copy unused sectors, so they're usually a better strategy than cloning even if you want to duplicate the entire disk because they only deal with sectors that actually contain data.
