Can't edit backup settings after upgrading to 2012
Just upgraded. Only had 1 backup defined in the 2011 software. Now that 2012 is installed, if I try to "Edit Backup Settings", it asks me to enter a password (I had password protected the backups), and after I do that, I get a nasty, "Access to the file is denied".
Here is the error specifics: 0x00040014+0x0000FFF0+0x800704C3
Help!

Move your old backup files to another directory on your backup disk. Launch ATI, delete your old backup task. YOu will still be able to restore if you need. Start a new backup task with ATI 2012.
When upgrading version or even updating, it is better to uninstall, reboot and install.
That's a pretty poor upgrade. I would certainly have hoped it would keep my prior backup settings.

Hi David
where did you store your backup file?`
Local drive or NEtwork location?

Network location. Specifically, a Synology DS1511+ NAS.

Hi DAvid,
hmmmmm sounds familiar to me.
There are few people (including me) that noticed that acess to a network drive (specially if it is already mounteded under windows) makes trouble within acronis ti.
could you try following?
try to dismount all network drives under windows
check if you have acess to your nas under acronis ti (-> browse for backup files-> network-> "your nas" . (you need to give acronis login information to your nas)
and maybe you could acess your old backups than
After a nother person and me dismounted windows shares we could acces the nas within acronis.

I just tried - for fun - to create an entirely new Disk Backup job. It can't even do that! Was this product tested *at all*?
This is by far the worst ATI release. The most basic things it can't do.

I am busy. I have no intention of dismounting all my network drives. I have a better idea, how about Acronis release a patch for 2012 and make it work?
The 2011 product worked just fine.

I would just mention (and S22 eyebrows will roll :) ) that TIH has always worked better with UNC than mapped drives, it also appears to have problems with Microsoft Credential Manager in W7 or MCM has problems with TIH. If TIH is the first to access and be given the credentials, MCM and TIH seem to be happy.
I don't have a NAS, but did find I had to change the network translation setting and share a folder to get 2012 to see my host machine when imaging from a VM (this was in the beta).

I AM using a UNC and not a mapped drive.

Within Acronis i also use UNC Paths..
but if a windows drive is mapped you cant see the nas/folders under "network" in the acronis explorer. if you try to type in an unc path by hand you cant go to the next step.
Within Acronis "Explorer" You first have to select an existing folder and than type in the UNC path and han go on.
But also using UNC paths the problem persist that you cant edit the tasks if a windows drive is mapped.

I'm having similar problems trying to connect to network shares. 2012 for the life of me won't create a backup on any network share from my laptop. Get "access to the file is denied" error like many many others do.
How do you specify the UNC path in TIH 2012 when creating a new backup? I disconnected temporarily my mapped drives just to see if I can create this backup. When I try entering the UNC path directly into the backup window, says path not available. Tried this for my NAS and a shared drive on another computer. All drives are not mapped right now (but I will need to after I get a successful backup). Also tried entering credentials for the shares with same result.
I just tried a competing product and had a backup created in minutes. I would like to give 2012 another shot before I purchase another solution.
Really frustrated. I had some issues with 2011 as well, and foolishly bought 2012 which does not work at all for me now. Thanks.
