Can't install 2013 because I can't uninstall 2010

Thread needs solution

I just purchased the 2013 version, but it won't install, saying 'Please uninstall Acronis True Image Home (version 13.0.7046) and try again'. Unfortunately no entry appears under Control Panel-Programs and Features for ATIH. Further, Revo uninstaller does not see it and cannot remove it, and there is no Uninstall icon provided in the Acronis program group. Since Acronis has stopped support for 2010, I can't even email anyone to find out how to uninstall. Frustrating.

In addition, I am unable to register the software in my account; when I put in the key, it says it's 'already registered', although I just purchased it today with the same email address as my other versions back to 8.0. Finally, the support section of the website doesn't work properly with Chrome.

Nice program, I've always been happy with the operation, but these company level problems are really getting me down.

Hmm- why should I have to leave a comment in order to be notified when new comments are posted?

If you purchased your copy of 2013 from the Acronis website, part of the order process is a selection, on the order page, for you to decide whether or not to create an account on Acronis. If you left this item checked, the serial number is already registered to your account.
As far as uninstalling 2010, you can download the ATIH 2011(this works for 2010 also) cleanup utility and run it. http://kb.acronis.com/content/14871. If you have any Acronis items in Device Manager, remove them before running the cleanup utility. Delete any items in your user profile temp folder, and then try the install again.
I am running Chrome (Version 23.0.1246.0 dev-m), and do not have any problems with the forums, main site, or support, including chat.

Just to add to James reply, if you still have the 2010 installer you can run it, and it should offer you an uninstall option, that might be enough to get you going without having to download anything else. Having said that the cleaner program is not very large.

I've got the same problem that Craig does. The installer want's me to uninstall tih 2010. The only version that shows in the program list is 2011. 2010 is still in the "Programs and Features" list (W7 8GB quad core). I've tried to uninstall both programs. They start collecting data then terminate without completing the uninstall. Is there a removal tool similar to what Symantec has to clean the system? Will I need a record of the license for 2011 when I do install 2013? I've attached the Belarc Advisor printout.

BT,

Have you tried rerunning the 2010 installer to see if it offers you the 'remove' option? There is no longer a 2010 clenaer due to Microsoft withdrawing one of the programs that it used. You could try using the 2011 cleaner, though I would suggest uninstalling 2011 first, rememebreing to de-integrate, remove SZ etc (if enabled) before uninstallation, then run the 2011 cleaner, this will take out any other Acronis programs you might have installed.

Before doing this, make sure you have a current image to fall back on . If you have the upgrade version of 2013 you wll need your 2011 serial number to hand, alongside your 2013 one.

I am building a brand new computer.
I installed the 2013 trial Acronis program. Then found out it cannot CLONE a disk. Then I looked to UNINSTALL the 2013 trial, but it does not appear in the Windows 7 program list so I could not UNINSTALL it. Then I just went back and tried to install from my copy of Acronis 2012. This program says it cannot install because a LATER EDITION is already installed.

How do I proceed to uninstall Acronis 2013 Trial?

I think Acronis developers need to test this stuff more!! Faults such as this waste a tremendous amount of customer's time!

Thanks.

Clone is not a feature included in the trial.

To uninstall try the cleanup utility. Follow instructions very carefully. In particular, do not let the utility reboot your computer before you complete the last 2 registry checks.

You could also try running the 2013 trial installer again, this should give you an option to uninstall, unless the install files are so badly corrupted, in which case as Pat L says the cleaner is the only tool to use.
