Can't properly run backups anymore - repost

Thread needs solution

Hi - I think that my reply to Dmitry got lost in a sea of posts - reposted below...

Thanks for replying Dmitry. As advised, I looked into how to set the full UNC path. It was not apparent to me where to set this. For context, I tried to create a new full disk backup task. I was purely selecting check boxes (as opposed to providing a full UNC path) to select the entire system drive that I was backing up (C:) and then saving the backups in a ASZ partition (I have a whole drive devoted to this). The product successfully created a task - then when I tried to select the task and "run now" - it started, then halted with errors. As suggested, I updated the scheduler as advised then tried again with the same problem. I was successfully creating backups on a schedule for over a month, then I had a bad memory chip in my machine and the resultant problems required me to restore from one of the backups. My hardware is now working perfectly but I haven't been able to create a new backup since then - always with the same errors. I will attach my log file to this posting if you need to see it. I still have my original backups - but - I'm nervous that I'm now not creating any new ones.

Thanks!

please be aware i do not know what was commented to you or your replies to them

Did you try a full backup and put it on another partion other than the ASZ.
and did that work ok.

Did you try running a backup from the startup or restore disk and try to put the backup in your ASZ or a different partion.

your log file attachment is a little confusing like no date and and all the logs it could find and put in there.
I do not know if you know this but if you don't this might help.
when you start acronis and the welcome screen appears in the left box you should see a tab called "tasks and Logs"
click on that and then click on the log tab now you should see all the backups and you can check those and then you might see what the errors were on that backup its easier to understand.(that is how i found out about the logs). 2010 home does a better job letting you know what is wrong than 2009 home.
i had the same problem as you after 3or4 backups it would halt and the error message was can not find file. after trying everything i could think of i deleted asz partion reformatted the harddrive and put my backups in a folder on that drive. the asz is not that important to me. I did not try setting it up 2010 home using windows 7 so i do not know what will happen.

i hope this helps

Thanks Mike! I just tried creating a backup onto an external USB drive and it worked. So now I feel confident getting rid the of ASZ partition and starting again. My take is that there is a bug in the product - I believe that I was running a perfectly valid use case. For me, the product ran for over a month doing backups onto the ASZ partition without a problem. I had a hardware problem on my PC (bad memory) and the resultant problems ended up corrupting part of my system. After I successfully restored, I was never able to do a backup again without errors around not finding the file. This included all combination of scheduling or manual running.

I will not use the ASZ partition this time and I hope it solves the problem. Acronis should fix this as it is a good feature having an ASZ partition that my family can't inadvertently go in and muck with the same way as they could a regular NTFS partition.

Thanks again for your help!
