Can't restore system over remote desktop
I have been a long time user of ATI. I have it on an office pc. I regularly remote in to the office from home on the weekends. Last weekend I had a small problem with my office pc and wanted to restore a system image from the night before. The system images are kept on a separate hard drive in my office pc. I went to restore (don't forget I'm at home using RDC) and when it asked me to re-boot my office pc, I clicked on reboot, but nothing happened. I tried again and the same thing.
I manually re-booted the office pc using the 'shutdown -r' command but the restore did not work. This has worked many times in the past. Why would it not work this time?
My office pc is running WindowsXp with all the services packs and fully patched.
Thanks.

It might not be common, but it has worked in the past. When I work on the weekends from home, it has happened that I've screwed up my system but I've always felt comfortable knowing that I could easily restore a system image, even from home. Perhaps you misunderstand though what I mean by restoring my office system from home. It's not that I keep a copy of the system image at home. The office system image is on a separate hard drive in my office pc. From home I'm logged in to my office pc and then using ATI I restore the image to my office pc. It has always started fine and when I comes time to reboot, I click and it reboots and then goes about restoring the system. Of course I am logged off while this is happening and must stay logged off till the system restores. This usually takes no more than 45 minutes. I've done this at least 3 or 4 times in the last 5 years. Just recently though it won't reboot when it comes time. ????

Are these disk/partition restores, or file/folder restores?

This is a full system restore. (system partition restore)

When recovering a disk or partition image, it's recommended to do so from the ATI bootable Rescue Media. The bootable Rescue Media cannot be automated, one reason being that you need to clearly identify and select the target disk to which to restore.
I realize that you wouldn't be able to do that remotely. You'll have to decide which is more important: convenience of remote restores; or following the recommended, safer method.
