Change default folder view in archive explorer

Thread needs solution

When I use the True Image 2010 shell extension to view archives in Windows 7 Explorer, every folder defaults to the "tiles" view with each file represented as an icon. I'd like to switch it to "details" view by default. For normal folders, I can go into the folder options and choose "Apply to Folders" to apply the same details view and other settings to folders of the same type (general, pictures, etc.). However, the option is greyed out for folders inside True Image archives. I'm not sure whether the problem is in Windows or the shell extension.

You can change the view style for the current viewing by you can't make the style change the new default because you can't actually write to the (tib) file. Alas, this isn't the only case where you can't escape the default file view in win -- e.g., Acrobat always uses the default view even though you can change it for a current viewing -- next time you call up a file list it will again be inthe default windows view.

Folder settings are stored in the registry, so nothing would be written to the .tib file anyway. When I view a ZIP archive as a folder in Explorer, it always comes up in the details view, and I'm able to "Apply to Folders". I suspect that it's a Windows limitation as to what a shell extension can do with folders.

But the tib is a true folder and certainly not a writable one. Even if you make (other) changes to the backup using ATI, it actually makes the changes in seperate file.

Yes, I think it's a windows limitation too although a proglrammmer surely could find ways to work around it but it's a lot of work tring to defeat the designof an os and usually doesn't pay off in the long run.

Personally, I hate the default file view in Windows.
