Changing the *.tib file name

Thread needs solution

When starting the backup process (Disk and partitions backup), in the dialog window named "Disk Backup" the default Backup name is "My partitions". Apparently this name may be changed, but it seems that the change will affect only the name of the backup in the main Acronis window. The file created on the physical disk will always be named "My_partitions.tib".

My question is: If I change manually the name of the backup file, will this file still be recognized by the program as a valid backup?

I'm using Acronis True Image Home 2012 build 6154.

The answer to your question is "maybe or maybe not". The file itself should be ok but the task will have troubles creating any backups of the same name. Best to create a new task.

While the user does not have control over the name assigned as the default backup name or folder name, the user does have complete control over
...the name assigned as the backup file name, also
...the name assigned as the target storage folder and
...the actual name used as the backup task

The name assigned to the backup file (*.tib) is controlled by the name assigned in figure 8 of the attached link. Also related is figures 6 & 7.
The name assigned to the backup task is controlled by the actions taken by the user when in figure 18 of the attached link. User has the option of accepting the task name assigned by the program or the user can change the task name. Changing the name of the backup task in Figure 18 does not change the name you assigned to the backup file in figure 8. The name assigned as the backup file name can only be set by actions when in the Figure 8 section of the task creation.

Editing a task can cause unexpected results so my recommendation is if a task needs changing, then stop using the task and create a new task with proper settings. My recommendation is also to point each backup task to its own storage folder and NOT to intermix backup files from different tasks into one folder.

Gee, man, quite intricate… wasn't aware I'm making prose without knowing.
Not in my league, definitely.
Thank you for the elaborate answer.
