Clone and backup

Thread needs solution

Here's the issue: (am running XP sp3 Pro-32 bit) I have 2 HDs, a Seagate (250g) and a Western Digital (1T). I am having issues with the Seagate-chugging-scared that it is going. I thought that I would clone everything from the Seagate (SG) and pop it onto the WD. The program said that I could not do that as it would erase what was already on the WD drive-photos and docs. So I opted to backup everything that was on the WD to an open partition on the SG. Worked fine. Everything was there. I then cloned everything on the SG onto the WD. Worked fine. I unplugged the SG (as I do not wnat to use it anymore) and the WD booted up! I was pretty happy, however, it was missing the files that I originally "backed up", as I expected. They need to be "recovered". When I started to recover the data that I had originally backed up, I got an NTLDR error and I could not reboot the WD drive after the first partition was recovered.

Eventually, I replugged in my SG and am running off of that one and, for the most part, everything that I can see (on this drive) is here. What should I do? Should I erase and repartition the WD and clone partitions one at at time onto the WD? That was my original thought, but the directions for ATIH said that it was not able to do that. My WD has 4 or 5 partitions from when I originally set it up. So, I actually thought that would be the way to go. Now, I think that I have to start over regardless, because the WD will not boot up.

Any help would be great. Lalain
