HI I just used acronis 2015 for the first time and cloned a 250gig samsung evo 850 ssd onto a seagate 1tb barracuda drive.

But it wont boot from the new drive, the windows 10 spinning ball goes for hours.

I am running windows 10 64 bit

Hello Roel,

Thank you for your posting! Please refer to the following article for troubleshooting steps.

Thank you,

roelcha

Did you remove the original 250GB SSD and place the new 1TB drive onto thes same physical port prior to booting to the new drive - that is the recommended method.  When you clone, your disks will have the same hardware signature afterwards so the system will see them as both being the same and will cause problems if you don't.

Also, instead of "cloning" try creating a full disk backup of the original drive (select all paritions!).  Then restore the full image and all paritions to the new one.  Before booting though, remove the original SSD (to make sure it boots) - any better luck?

FYI that 1TB Barracuda drive is going to be waaaaaaaaaay slower than your SSD - so be prepared for a degradation of performance with boot/shutdown times and running applications.  If possible, you could leave your 250GB SSD as your OS drive, but move all of your data (photos, pictures, movies, documents, etc) to the 1TB drive to take advantage of the SSD performance and the 1TB storage space?
