Clone Fails from Bootable Media

Thread needs solution

Not much here to go on.

1. Remove the source disk and Install the blank target disk in its place--inside the computer.
2. Attach the source disk via an alternate means--such as another drive bay or external disk.
3. Boot from the CD and perform the clone.
4. Afterwards, first boot following clone should be with only the clone attached.

Another alternate is the backup and restore procedure.
A. Use the TI Bootable CD and create a backup of the entire disk contents--all partitions.
B. Same disk positioning as suggested for the clone procedure.
C. Use the same CD and then restore the backup as a disk restore backup. Disk checkmarked so all partitions restored.
D. Afterwards, first boot following the restore should be with only the computer disk attached.

Grover, I'm having the same problem right now. Dell Latitude E6520 W7pro, wanting to clone a 500gb sata to a 750 (a combo SSD/HD). Tried to boot from the old drive in a USB casing. Windows starts & fails, returns to menu to repair or start normally. Tried normal, then repair, then booted from a TI (13) boot disk (wouldn't boot while the external USB (old) drive was attached. I retried with it removed, and booted to the CD, attached the USB, then seemed to proceed normally through the start of the clone process. It failed. Also, I can only get to the Dell boot choices without the USB external attached. If it's attached, F12 has no effect and it goes into an attempt to boot, then gets to the failed-boot message.

Do you ahve suggestions?
Thanks!

Don't try to boot the system from the usb connection. Windows is not structured for that. If you tried it, your source disk may not boot even when put back inside the computer.

put the 750 target inside the computer
put the 500 source disk inside the usb.
Boot into the TrueImage Recovery CD.
From the TI tools menu, use the ADD Disk option and delete all partions on the 750 so the all space on the 750 is unallocated.
Repeat the clone attempt. I recommend using the manual method and using the manual "as is" move method. We can adjust the space later.
Upon clone completion, shutdown and remove the usb.
Boot the 750, If boot problems, try the Windows Recovery CD Startup Repair option.

Question: If this does not work, do you have a full disk image backup which includes backup of ALL PARTITIONS?

Yes, I made a full backup including all 4 partitions on the 500. Before receiving your reply, I read another volunteer's recommendation to backup/recover, rather than clone. Going through that entire process up to allocating space for the C: partition seemed fine, but the step for allocating space for it showed about 8 billion TB space before the partition, and no ability to enter any numbers otherwise. So stopped, and back to see your update. (FYI, fortunately, after trying that USB boot, then putting the machine back together to use it for awhile, it worked fine. Whew.) I'll follow your steps above now and let you know how it goes. Thanks!

Followed the steps outlined above. Clone failed this time also. Typed the results in this window, clicked save below, and the page erred, so I don't have the exact details to report. Putting it back together to go back to work with it, and will come back to this later to try to sort it out and get it done. So disappointing because I've used A-TI in the past (versions 10 and earlier) and had no problem. I recall cloning with TI as being a simple, no complications process.
