Clone operation failed, using recovery disk on RAID system (TI 2014)

Thread needs solution

I have a RAID system, with one RAID1 volume, as well as two simple volumes managed by RAID. The RAID1 volume presently contains three partitions, including the boot partition.

Something has gone wrong, and I can't boot Windows, but I can boot the Acronis 2014 recovery disk. I'd like to clone the RAID1 volume to one of the simple volumes, which I hope to be able to boot from another system. Acronis sees the entire RAID configuration, and I have previously been able to back up the RAID1 volume, but the cloning procedure doesn't work. For example, if I select "manual", then "proportional" (I've tried all other choices as well), it briefly displays the partitions, then fails with the message "Clone disk operation failed".

As a test, I tried cloning one simple volume to the other, and that works fine. But I need to clone the RAID1 volume - what do I do next?

RB-101, cloning of RAID is not supported so you need to do this by a different method.

Make a full disk backup of your RAID1 volume to an external backup drive, then restore that backup to a different target drive or RAID1 volume.
