Cloning of a harddrive

Last weekend, I cloned one of my system drives to another because I had planed to use the one with more available memery for backups. I chose the automatic mode.

The problem is that after the completed process I would have had to reinstall at least one of the installed programmes and another one I would have had to registrat again although on the original drive it is registered.

Because of that, I decided to format/delete the cloned drive again and continue like before. I haven't checked all the other software but only these two that are very important for me to work with. Neighter have I checked whether I would have had to reactivate Windows.

Can such consequences be avoided by using the manual instead of automatic mode and changing the transaction mode to "as existing"? Or is it normal that all payed software will be considered as test versions on the cloned drive?

I'm sorry of the wording isn't accurate - I use the German version of Acronis True Image Home.

It depends on the method used for the activation. If it's tied to the drive it won't be able to be moved to a new drive and remain activated. Using a different cloning method probably won't make a difference in these cases. However, you can try using a different method and see what happens when you boot it.

Yes, it's pretty normal for this to happen to software that requires activation.
