Coming 2 laptop HDs to single ext. HD

Thread needs solution

Friends,

I have two Dell laptops, both running W7. One I want to keep as a W7 machine, the other I want to convert to a Linux machine. The laptop I want to keep W7 on already successfully has had its HD cloned to an ext. HD using Acronis True Image Home 2012. Earlier this week, I partitioned the same ext. HD to clone the second laptop's HD. When I tried to clone the laptop's HD to the new partition on the ext. HD, Acronis indicated it was going to erase the entire ext. HD.

Is there any way to clone both laptop's HD's to the same external HD using Acronis?

Thanks for your help,

Ross

Ross, there is no need to "clone" when you can create full disk images (.tib files) using True Image. Each system can have an image file stored on your external backup drive. The image file (if you choose to back up the entire disk in your systems) will contain everything you need to restore the system after a hard disk crash or to a new disk if a larger one is needed.

Cloning a disk will always overwrite the entire destination disk with an exact copy of the source disk.
