Configuation file is not found and cannot be created
Along with the "No Windows libraries" warning, I am getting the "Configuration file is not found and cannot be created" warning in the log for every backup. I understand that the library issue is for Windows 7 (I use XP). I can't find any reference to the configuration file error and want to make sure it will not affect my backups. I see that someone else asked about these in the forums and got no answer. Does anyone know what the configuration file issue is?
Thanks, Rick

Rick and Yana, I've also got both of these messages in my logs in Windows XP SP3 with Acronis TIH 2012. I really don't think I should have to pay them for PPI just to look at my logs since the thing really hasn't worked since I installed.

Hi, I have the same problem.
I deleted completely my backups, the "Acronis" folders on my external disk and recreated the backups... and I still have the problem!

Hello Les and Simon,
Thank you for your comments.
We are currently working on these issue, I do not have an ETA at the moment for when they will be fixed.
Les, if you purchase a PPI and it turns out to be a software issue, we will refund the PPI.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.

For me, the "Configuration file is not found and cannot be created" seems to have gone away, but I do seem to have the "No Windows libraries" each time I start the GUI. It doesn't seem to be impacting anything at this time, though.
My main issue is in another thread: The fact that I cannot boot in safe mode anymore.
[PS: Wouldn't mind paying for PPI if it didn't take a week in between each email exchange.]

I would like to uninstall the TIH 2012 and install TIH 2009 but the system would not let me using the normal uninstall procedure.
How can I revert back to my old version that I was using before with more success than the current versions?

Why can't I copy and paste the Red X screen that contains the error message to plug it in the email?
Failed to open (initialize) the computer
Failed to initialize the snatchshot manager library. (0x100005) Tag = 0x8d5bf87c202e8715 unknown status. (0x9) code = 2)
etc...

Hello Les and Wim,
Thank you for your comments.
Les, I forwarded your comments to our Management team, I apologize for the inconvenience.
Wim, are you trying to uninstall Acronis True Image 2012 Home from Windows add/remove programs and getting this error? Have you tried Acronis True Image 2012 Home cleanup utility?
Please let me know if you need additional help.
Thank you.

In post #5 I mentioned that the the "Configuration file is not found and cannot be created" seems to have gone away, that doesn't seem to be entirely true. It seems that it is showing up about every other day. "No Windows libraries" seems to occur more frequently. Neither appears to be impacting performance at this time.

Hi Les
I notice that your post regarding the Configuration file is not found and can not be created was back in December of 2011. Me and a few other people are still getting this same exact error and we're into June 2012. That seems like a long time for no resolution of this error or bug or whatever Acronis is calling this. I use Windows 7 Home Premium X64 and Acronis TIH 2012 Build #7119. Did you ever get any satisfaction regarding this error at all? It would be good to know so I can see where we stand and what I should do.

And I'm still getting it too.
The same error:
in Acronis true image 2012
"Configuration file is not found and cannot be created".
I tried deleting all backups, and uninstall/reinstall, but it did not fix it.
Everyone points to the Cleanup Utility (CU), but I get Access Denied. It seems from reading the other posts that it doesn't matter anyway, the CU doesn't fix it either.
Another thread said to ignore the error.
I certainly don't want to rely on a backup if it's not going to work. And honestly, I spent nearly a full day on it already, and don't have another day to spend on it.

I've found that if you log in to your Acronis account from within True Image, the "Configuration file is not found and cannot be created" message does not appear anymore. Seems it has something to do with Sync or Online backup. Once you have logged into your Acronis account from within True Image at least once, this error message seems to go away. You then can logout of your Acronis account from within True image, and it does not reappear. (This has been my experience, not a definitive resolution to the error message.) I ran 2012 for many months with this error message appearing, and it did not affect backups and restores in any way. More of a cosmetic error than anything else.

Wow, very interesting answer and solution.
It is, however, quite disturbing at the same time, what this may imply. They sure as hell fire better not be sending my data to their servers !
That whole online backup bullsh-- almost deterred me from buying Acronis.
Thanks for your post, I'll give it a try.

For any future searchers:
When I logged Acronis into my online account they took the liberty of creating a folder on my drive and linking it to some online space, and I had some 'sync' icon appear on the Systray. I also see there is no way to delete this 'sync' profile. I'm not at all pleased with that. After logging Acronis out of the account and reboot, the icon went away.
So, anyway, hopefully the config file error goes away now. I'll try to remember to come back and report on it.
