Creating TI 2013 boot cd

Thread needs solution

I have an HP Compaq 8200 Elite Desktop (Win 7 64 bit). Just upgraded from TI 2011 to TI 2013. Please note that the boot cd created with TI 2011 works fine as I have tested to ensure it boots to Acronis. When I created a TI 2013 boot cd, it boots showing the Acronis logo and under the logo is "Please wait". Via Acronis tech support: they had me download ISO file. I used Windows CD burner to burn downloaded ISO to cd. Same event happend showing Acronis logo & "Please wait".

Acronis tech support wants me to boot with the CD & hit F11 on selection screen. I did this & nothing happened.

Does anyone have a fix for this problem? It is very frustrating knowing that TI 2011 worked fine. Upgrading to TI 2013 & testing the cd boot fails. Should I go back to TI 2011?

Appreciate any and all input

Does your PC use UEFI firmware instead of a BIOS?

Hi Colin - Thanks for the response! Not sure how to determine if UEFI or not. Do not know mfg of the motherboard. Did MSINFO32 & it shows bios to be HP J01.

I did not see a reference to UEFI.

What is baffling me is that the boot CD created with Acronis 2011 worked fine.

Thanks - Steve

Hello Steve,
The behavior you are describing usually has to do with a hardware/software incompatibility or problem with the way a boot disk was created.

The first thing to do is to try and start another system from your "new" boot CD. If this doesn't work, try creating another using a different burining application.

What Colin is pointing out is a newer type of BIOS programming that is becoming more widely used. You might have to start the machine and enter the BIOS to determine if your system uses this newer BIOS type. (Press Esc, then F10 during POST.. on your machine) If so, it is sometimes possible to manipulate parameters which will allow the machine to be started from a conventional type boot disk, Acronis Boot CD, etc.

The other possible causes have to do with hardware. Video card/display, USB chipset, etc. Sometimes the system will hang if any one of these things or combination is not compatible with the drivers on the boot CD. Sometimes the native video display mode cannot be automatically detected or set. The F11 option opens a command prompt which allows parameters to be specified and sometimes can overcome the offending driver, or hardware and allow the boot environment to load and start.

So for starters, test the CD on another machine and let us know those results.
