Custom backup scheme

Thread needs solution

I have True Image 2013 (all licensed) installed on several computers. Each PC is backed up weekly to their respective directory on a single external hard drive. True Image is doing a disk backup of each PC.

I do not want the hard drive to reach its capacity so I have created a custom backup scheme. My goal is to have one full backup and three incremental backups after a month of backing up so that there are never more than four backup files for each PC.

I have read the manual for TI 2013 and the section on Custom Schemes has left me totally confused. Currently under Disk Backup Options I created a custom scheme as follows:
Backup Method: Incremental
Create a full version every 3 incremental versions is selected
Store no more than 4 recent versions chains is selected
Automatic Cleanup is activated

After two months of backups the number of full and incremental backup files varies for each PC, ranging from one PC having three full backups and four incremental backups to two full backups and three incremental backups.

Can someone suggest a custom scheme that will fulfill my requirements:
1 full backup/month
3 incremental backups/month
and then start over clean each month.

Thank you for any assistance.

At the end of two months, if you only want the one set of 1 full plus 3 inc, then you need to set Store no more than 1 recent versions chains is selected. (Note chain = 1 full plus all inc dependant upon that specific full)

The program always creates its replacment before deleting the old. So, on the 2nd and later full backups, a replacement full would be created and then it would delete the oldest full and 3 Inc.
The result would be for a few minutes while the new full is being created, you would have 5 files.
Upon completion of the replacment full, the oldest full and 3 inc would be deleted.
After the deletion, you would have only the current full and as time passes, the 3 inc would be added. and the cycle would repeat.

Your settings:
Backup Options= custom scheme
Backup Method: Incremental
Create a full version every 3 incremental versions is selected
Store no more than 1 recent versions chains is selected
Automatic Cleanup is activated

The below is an example of keeping 4 recent version chains which is more than you want to keep.
Note that backup 2 and 3 (b2, b3) have been deleted via the automatic cleanup and the procedure continues
In your setting, You want to keep onnly 1 recent versin chain (1 full + 3 inc)

Each computer should have its own storage sub-folder with no intermixing of backup files.
Once the task has been created, the editing or changing of parameters has been know to cause the number count to become confused. Avoid edits for best results.

GroverH,

Thank you for the clarification. I will make a new custom scheme and change the "Store no more than" selection to 1 and see what the results are at the end of a one month period.

Note, each PC is backed up to a separate directory so they don't mix together.
