Deletion of online backup files does not complete

I have TI Home 2010 installed on a desktop and a laptop. On both machines, if I browse the stored files and select a file to delete the small window displays "Deleting" but does not complete. The only way to stop the process seems to be to reboot. However, I can see that the file selected has been deleted by browsing for the file on another machine.

Has anyone out there experienced this problem and, if so, is there a fix?

PS I have discovered that another way to stop the process is to delete the Acronis service TimeExplorer.exe. So I wonder whether this service has become corrupted in some way.

PPS I have tried a repair, a reinstall, and also a re-install of the previous version of TI but all display the same problem.
