Dell Mini 10 and Acronis Boot Recovery CD not seeing the network
I have a Dell Mini 10 and I am using Acronis TI Home 2009. I have created the Image and have it on my server at work. I created the Bootable CD Recovery disk and using an external CD Hard Drive I am trying to see if I can re-image it if I ever need to. I can boot from the recovery CD fine but when I browse for the network it is not there. I have checked the cable and it is fine because when I boot up the computer in windows I can see it just fine. When I go to tools to see if the network adapter is showing this is what I see:
Network Atapters
eth0
Realteck-8169
Status 1,000 MBPS Full Duplex cable not connected (but it is)
Media type use auto negotiation
Auto config is checked
DHCP is not used (and it should be)
then it gives me a bogus IP address of 169.254.88.19
subnet 255.255.0.0
nothing else is populated
I am at my wits end trying to figure this out. I can put it not any other computer and the cd works fine and sees the network.
So it has to be the network adapter on the Dell Mini 10 and TI 2009 is not compatible. Are there any workarounds to this?

I am having the same problem with my Toshiba Netbook. Even when manually entering the ip it does not work. I wonder if it is a driver problem the recovery disk is using.

We are having the same problem here with build 8353 and Dell mini10.

If the True Image installed software in Windows can see the network, then it is a driver issue if the CD cannot see the network.

Clearly a driver issue and we certainly hope Acronis will incorprorate that into the next build sooner rather than later, but as of now nothing has been done. Anyone got a work around?

The latet build, 8398 does NOT resolve the issue either. I already submitted a technical request to Acronis.

Hello all,
I will surely help you and resolve the issue you have experienced.
Most probably the issue is caused by the fact that your NIC is not recognized (or recognized incorrectly) under Acronis Rescue Media.
To fix the issue, I may recommend you to try a special version of bootable media that is based on a different bootloader (ISOLINUX) and includes a different hardware drivers set.
Sandy and RLM HELP DESK, I've sent you Private Messages with a download links to that new bootable media images. Please let me know how it works for you.
Please reply to this thread if you have any further questions, I'll be glad to help.
Thank you.

I tried the special version of bootable media and it still does not pick up an IP address from my network. Again the laptop is able to pick up an IP address when it boots into the OS successfully. Please advise.

Still no update from Acronis for a long time. We are losing faith in this product keeping up with the latest hardware out there. How can we recommend to other branches if we are not completely satisifed? Should we switch back to Symantec Ghost?

Thank you very much for your post. I am really sorry for not getting back to you earlier, and I would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused by our support.
I found your case, where Ilya asked you for additional information. Unfortunately, this issue cannot be resolved via forum, because it requires the help of our next level support, that is why Ilya requested those logs from you.
I have contacted our Management team so that they can take care of this problem.
Once again, I am very sorry for all the inconvenience.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

I am having the same problem, but did not see how this was resolved. It seems the bootable CD does not have network drivers. I can see the *.tib files on my ftp location when I boot up using Windows, but I cannot see the *.tib files on my ftp location when I boot up using the rescue CD. I know the backup/image is there, I just cannot get to it when the bootable CD is running the laptop.
